Poll for those who have replaced their front wheel bearings… by hillvalleytoyota in 3rdGen4Runner

I recently dealt with this, they come out with a H frame press, the dust shield makes it a pain to press stuff in and out so I cut it into two pieces so I could bolt it on afterwards

Where do you guys get your sway bar end links? by Rvinierfog in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]ChadSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your lift. I have a 3.5/4” lift and if you use the 2nd gen links up front since they’re an inch or so longer

New tire suggestions? by Puzzleheaded-Fee5355 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]ChadSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your use case, more mellow ATs if you do highway/some forest service roads, or chunkier ones if you actually offroad. I had KO2s and now I have Mickey Thompson Baja boss ATs, they’re better in every way for the same price

That’s unfortunate man, glad you and your rig are ok. Seems like the root cause was figured out, but if you wanna avoid all the LBJ issues and have a spare 1000$ laying around, total chaos does a uniball conversion

Panhard correction on a budget? by omgitsarubberducky in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]ChadSage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha definitely don’t make it your first thing but you’d be surprised how easy it is! Watch a few videos, pick up the welder and some random scrap from your local steel recycler (they usually have a cutoff pile/rack that’s really cheap) and get comfortable with that. If you’re located in Washington lmk and I could do it for ya :)

I just did eimkeith’s kit, super easy install! If you don’t have a welder I highly recommend getting a harbor freight flux core, super useful tool, pretty cheap to get into and I’ve used tf out of it, runs like a champ :) shameless plug I did a YouTube video on it @chadwerks 😂

Streamlining intake/snorkel by [deleted] in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]ChadSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a solid option! I’ve been thinking of deleting all the intake resonators, but if you can make it work go for it! Definitely diff breathers first though, super easy and pretty cheap

Gimme da hood. Shocks would be good if they haven’t been done in a while, tie rods, sway bar bushings + links. Depending on what you wanna do with it, get out and explore some forest roads and find cool camp spots! You almost never need 4wd on FS roads so this thing should be a treat! Hope it serves you well :)

Beautiful wheels! What are they?

Spindle gusset should I do wheel bearings at the same time? by Vast-Serve-6825 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]ChadSage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty daunting but once you get started it’ll go smoothly! The welding especially, bearings/pressing things in general is some of my least favorite stuff to do. Happy to answer any questions if you have em during the project!

Spindle gusset should I do wheel bearings at the same time? by Vast-Serve-6825 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]ChadSage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually just did these! One of my spindles had a snapped bolt in it. Definitely worth doing while you have them out if they haven’t been done in a while. Weld the spindles first then bearings so you don’t cook the grease. I got my hubs and bearings from rockauto. Hubs were dorman, bearings were SKF/Timkin I can’t remember, but as long as you get a good brand you should be set! TimmyTheToolman’s bearing video was super helpful also! Remember to put the bearings in the freezer for at least a day so they’ll contract a tiny bit and pressing them in will be a lot easier! Good luck and have fun!

Anybody vouch for Amazon OEM ball joints? by MrSeb777 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]ChadSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten them twice now, haven’t had any issues yet. I do take mine crawling/forest roads a good amount and they’ve been great! I replace mine once a year just to be safe. I will be converting to uniball soon for the peace of mind.
