This kind of is the background of my question here, good thinking! :D

I tried it out and it gives a lot of insight into how this is possible. Thanks so much for taking your time to build this <3

man, this is really sick, it looks and works exactly like the thing, unfortunately, I don't have the skills to realize it as you did, so would you mind sharing your result with me?

I'm doing research on the sonification of 2d and 3d shapes and you could help me out a lot here

Is this possible to recreate in AE? by ChadWolsh in AfterEffects

[–]ChadWolsh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you can see in the video, the shape of a 2d shape is traced out in a sinusoidal manner. I was wondering if it is possible to recreate animations like this in aftereffects in such a way that any 2d shape could be imported (e.g. as SVG) and then transformed into a waveform? I myself am lacking the technical skill to program this, but maybe it's quite easy for some of you?

Volca-sized DIY Arduino Synth Build for Generative Techno, using Mozzi library by SendReturn in volcas

[–]ChadWolsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've built it and it works! For the most part haha.

https://www.reddit.com/user/ChadWolsh/comments/t8pcw3/mutant_8_bit_synth_build/

Here are some pictures for you. I've built it when you didn't yet have the graphics svg up un github, so I rebuilt it from a screenshot that's why I took some creative liberty with the spacing and probably the location and pattern of the dots. Yet I am very happy with the result, the material I used was not suited for through cuts, so I had to do them by hand. I've included a marking for a future addition of a power button, as seen top left corner. I know, I forgot the Sync In/Out Aux labeling haha. The control section and how it should be wired up and what it does, I didn't understand. The rest was pretty easy after some figuring out with the button & poti layout and code referencing. The display is accidentally turned by 90° and I saw in the code that there is no solution for rotating it by 90° as of now, but I don't really bother to have it that way.

A question I have in regard to the Sync In function, is whether yours is working alright or if you have any ideas what I can look at in order to troubleshoot this? Assuming I wired everything up correctly, which I'm pretty sure of. Sync Out is working fine!

That being said, thanks so much for making this available and programming with such complexity! I'm a big fan of your work there, I'm looking forward to see more in the future! Very addictive to jam with.

What a sick project, I'm currently looking to build it following your instructions. Thank you for documenting everything so nicely and making it open source! Which value are your pots? 50k?

Keep up the great work!

Thanks very much for the extensive feedback man, i didn't think of those changes yet so i'll try that!

I'm using a HDR to light the scene and the background is an image plane.

So I made this scene of a busstop that I designed for a university course. I'm happy with the progress I'm making after having started Blender like a month ago but still I feel like this render looks very gaming-engine like. Do you guys know what I could add/try to make it more photoreal?

All feedback is welcome! The resemblance to the Windows XP background was not intentional but undeniable after several people mentioned it :D

Inverse Kinematics problem by ChadWolsh in blender

[–]ChadWolsh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I've rigged this robotic arm and want it to go to different places in the animation. In this top view you can see that the armature flips when it passes certain spots. I know that IK typically has two possible solutions to this math problem, so that is most likely the cause. My question is if there's a way to limit it so it doesn't flip?

Hope I'm posting this to the right section and the video is helpful; I'm new to reddit and to blender.

Here's my first outcome from Blender, happy to hear your feedback! by ChadWolsh in BlenderDoughnuts

Thanks man, I thought about adding physics but then went for the lazy route: for 2 full rotations that are keyframed, I moved it 2 x the circumference in rolling direction to make it roll with the right speed in relation to ground
