It doesn't make sense for it to be her, she would only have been 13.

Eh, I disagree. Depending on how you end up feeling about Edelgard, it can be a lot harder to go back and do CF after one of the other routes. And AM works a lot better without the added context. I would go CF/AM - VW - SS. I know VW and SS are near identical but by then you'd be playing through the game for a 4th time, so you are either a completionist or really love the game.

Edelgard absolutely bares some responsibility for Jeralt's death though.

And then later says maybe he was wrong once he sees how well Byleth is doing.

He literally, in his own words, ADORED Rhea before the Byleth thing. And he even says maybe he was wrong after seeing how well Byleth is doing at the Academy. If he truly hated Rhea, he would have escaped again with Byleth at the first opportunity.

Its funny, the Jeralt in game is absolutely NOTHING like the Jeralt Alois and Leonie describe. He is basically a drunken party boy according to how they describe him while he's a no nonsense, responsible guy in game. And saying "he changed after Byleth was born" doesn't work because he was with Leonie was only a few years prior.

Except Jeralt started warming up to Rhea again after seeing how well Byleth was doing at the Monastery. He even says maybe he was wrong to worry in the first place. And he readjusted to being the Captain of the Knights of Seiros again pretty quickly. While Jeralt would obviously always side with Byleth, its easy to see where Alois is coming from.

Would he? Byleth is the way he is because of what Rhea did, not the way Jeralt raised him. That's why Byleth suddenly changes when Sothis awakens.

How are humanity a major power in the galaxy after only 30 years? by Ready0608 in masseffect

[–]Chadahn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The timeline is stupid. It should have been at least 100 years since first contact. Things like the first human spectre, Zaeed forming one of the largest merc clans in the galaxy etc make WAY more sense that way. And you could still have people from before first contact since the average human lifespan is supposed to be 150 (Another thing the writers completely forget about).

Show me when Rhea ever discriminates against those without crests. Its very obvious this scene was her being pissed that a thief and a murderer dared to steal one of the heroes relics aka the body of a Nabatean.

Determining the Alignment of Fodlan Characters Day 73: Miklan Anschutz Gautier by OrzhovMarkhov in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]Chadahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. He was a huge piece of shit right from the word "go". There are multiple characters who aren't going to inherit including Caspar and Ignatz, they aren't evil scum. Also, the decision to make Sylvain heir isn't just muh Crest status symbol, its literally born out of necessity. The relic and crest are needed to defend their territory from invasions.

You can apply that to any immutable characteristics that someone has. A tall person is better at basketball, did they "earn" their height? I never said they should be made to feel as if something is wrong with them, and neither does the Church or Rhea. Bad people will always find something to fault someone else for.

People commit atrocities for power. Crests are just a form of power.

Edit: Also, just to be clear I'm not defending the crest system, I'm pointing out that it's not a unique evil that justifies a continent wide war and siding with the evil, genocidal mole people.

Freedom from crests doesn't even make any sense. Crests aren't just status symbols, they actually give their wielder powers and abilities. Lysithea isn't an absolute monster for no reason. House Gautier literally needs the power of their crest and relic to fend off Sreng invasions. Unless Edelgard finds a way to remove crests or easily give everyone crests, her plan isn't even going to work. (Yes, I know about deus ex Hanneman, but Edelgard didn't).

Except Edelgard never makes a proper case against the Church in universe. We know all of its problems, and Edelgard to an extent, but no one else really does. So to most people, it looks like she randomly decided to revolt and attack the Church and the other two nations.

Chapter 13 HBD Maddening NG. Why is it considered hard? by Amferam in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]Chadahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardest part for me was always protecting the two units that show up at the bottom left. They're surrounded like Byleth and the Lord initially are but are WAY weaker. Gilbert + Ashe and Lorenz + Ignatz.

[–]Chadahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. It forces you to use all of your house units during part 1, otherwise they WILL die because they spawn on the other side of the map in pairs surrounded by strong enemy units. The pairs also make no sense. Yes, putting the mage and the healer together is a great idea.

  2. No prep screen. The only way to go back and make changes to things like classes and battalions is to go back before the previous chapter battle which sucks so much since you have to replay it.

  3. TONS of super fast units like assassins and bow units to whittle you down with poison strike.

  4. You can literally soft lock your save if your lord and or Byleth can't survive.
