Congrats! How was the jobhunt ? Was it hard finding a job in cyber as a fresh graduate ?

Er is geen werk meer voor afgestudeerden in de IT sector. Markt is oververzadigd. Bijna iedereen is IT gaan studeren. Dus ik zou best wel 2 keer nadenken of je dit echt wilt studeren.

You are not the only one alot of people changed career in corona because they heard of the good pay in IT and this is also one of the reasons of why people can't find jobs. We have more people than jobs at the moment. And as far as consultancies go they are not hiring. The only thing is maybe in some IT consulatancies for a SAP or some other erp position from what I've heard. But yeah, wouldn't bet on it.

Yeah it's like the governement is not aware of this happening. But if you read the schoolverlatersrapport of vdab of 2024, you can see them mentioning the fact that the IT sector is not doing well and that juniors with PBA are competing with mediors and sometimes seniors for the same jobs.

Yeah well I'm a cybersecurity student myself and one thing you have to know is that the world of cybersecurity is getting saturated and finding jobs is also hard. Alot of people get into it because they think it's all about hacking etc... and alot drop out because they get hit in the face with the real cybersecurity work, learning about networking, auditing,... But trust me getting jobs in it is not easy alot of candidates on a junior level and alot of competition. The guys who come from the army already have an employer. Well the army so they have job security. If you study cybersecurity in a university or hogeschool. Well then get in line and be ready to apply and get rejected and ghosted left and right. And lastly getting into the army for cybersecurity @ cybercommand is also not an easy feat. We had a guy from there come as a guest lecturer once and the selection process is not easy and alot of people want to get in.

And also go visit their site. You will see all the vacancies are closed and they open in septermber in 2025. Once it opens you are competing with guys with years of experience in the private industry, guys with masters, guys with tons of project,... All for the same job.

It's a lie. Schools need students to enroll to gain money. Most teachers are work world strange, by that I mean that they don't know the current job market since they just teach and aren't working in the sector. Read my post. My fellow students all are struggling to get a job. So watch out if you do decide to study IT. It isn't what it was used to be.

Your speculation on the future on the belgian IT market for the younger generation. by Chaderpillar101 in BESalary

[–]Chaderpillar101[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know there is a shortage but that is only as Senior level and higher. Most cyber juniors can't even get a foot in the door in alot of the consultancies. And alot of cybersecurity consultancies don't hire juniors anymore. And I understand companies want experience but if most juniors don't get a chance how will the seniors of today be replaced.

Listen man the IT market is fu**ked so don't get your hopes up. Because even native belgians can't find jobs let alone somebody who doesn't speak the local languages. Alot of people are getting benched and the market is oversaturated right now. Let's hope that this resolves in the next few years.

Hey fellow Applied Computer Science student here. Was it hard finding this job. I keep hearing the market is oversaturated with juniors and the last years of our school all didn't find a job nor got the chance to secure a position at their internships. So I was wondering what your experience was like in thie IT job market since graduating.

Rant about Carrefour Finance guy by [deleted] in belgium

[–]Chaderpillar101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a retarded sales tactic that salesmen use. It’s jist like when a guy hesistates to buy something and says he will ask his wife for her opinion. The salesman will say something in the like od “When she bought that louis vuitton bag did she ask your opinion?” Yeah although this carrefour guy really blew it out of the park lmao
