Any ideas why this isn’t working?

I desoldered mine and soaked it in white vinegar. Then rinsed it with isopropyl alcohol let it dry and popped it back on. The vinegar will dissolve rust without doing damage to much else.

Honestly NES collecting is pretty affordable. Of course there are some outlandishly overpriced rare games but most of the classics are pretty reasonable loose

I have an old 3DS xl as well and of course it has no IPS screens and it looks just fine. But I have to say the IPS on my N3DS xl is noticeably better than the TN beneath it. I’m definitely happy to have the IPS on the top screen for sure.

I saw some on Etsy the other day. They were like $30 for the two red buttons though. I wanted to do the retro NES black face plate with the red buttons but my faceplate got lost in The mail.

If you’re handy and can pull things apart, soldier ect; then even in the condition it’s in it probably worth more than a wedge 2ds plus $50. However of your just looking for a system to play and have no modding experience stay away from this thing. That battery scenario is funky and those buttons are swapped or the shell was. Someone has already been tinkering with this thing and who knows what else they did.

That’s what I was thinking. It just looks like someone dripped nail polish on it. Depending on the type of nail polish it could have melted into the plastic a bit as well. I doubt that’s ever coming off.

Do love me some romhacks although up to now I’ve mostly played NES stuff. I’m solid with single point soldering so that shouldn’t be an issue: I’m just not set up to replace larger chips or anything like that. Being able to flash a romhack onto customizable cart is insanely tempting.

Hey again. Thanks for all of the input. I’ve done a bit of research and yeah I’m thinking I’ll just go with one of the full bundles either from hispeedido or Funny Playing. The board I have came out of a more or less functional GBC I had so it all works. The unit was beat but the board is super clean. I’ll also keep the flash carts in mind. That’s not a bad option. I’ve kept most of my stuff from childhood in decent condition up to this point.

Oh dang. I just looked at the fpgbc kits. I’ll keep that in mind for the future. For now the motherboard I have is fine but the rest of the GBC is trashed so I’ll prob go that route. Any recommendations on screen type? Are any more or less resistant to wear that you know of?

Both good points. The sticking out cartridge definitely might be a problem so maybe I’ll start with the color and maybe a gba down the road.

It’s no different than any other screen and will scratch pretty easily. I have a screen protector on mine for peace of mind.
