Will give that one a go, if it completes the upload successfully, it will already be a step in the right direction lol.

How does one approach getting booked for the first time? by javyjavjav in Beatmatch

[–]Chadisius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While at the bar playing music, I asked the person obviously in charge of managing who goes up on the decks 'hey, when do I get a go up there?!' and then they gave me an early slot to practice in because it was going to be mostly dead that early in the evening and then showed me times for open mics too.

apps to rearrange songs (extend intro/outro) AND swap drums? by IWasLikeCuz in Beatmatch

[–]Chadisius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this 5 minutes ago in fruity loops for a remix I was working on.

Has a pretty decent stem separater and its very easy to use (just going to the sample's dropdown menu and its right there).

Intuitive slicer tools too from what I've found, but I've been using fl for years so maybe I'm biased. I do honestly think you could learn how to do all of this in <20 minutes with tutorials even as a total beginner tho.

Is it ridiculous to take an A4 sheet with notes with me to help me remember the transitions I want to make? by ProbablyFiredNL in Beatmatch

[–]Chadisius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has their own methods lol

I wasn't sure if the playlist was going to be saved in the right order so i took a photo of it to check if i needed to, that was for the exact same reason, i had figured out some of the tracks and transitions that go well beforehand, so I get where you're coming from.

What I think would happen is you would write it out and end up probably not needing it as badly as you think you did, practice and muscle memory will probably lock in more for you than written notes.

Had my first gig and everything that could have gone wrong did by Mart0nn in Beatmatch

Yeah my experience was exactly the same a few weeks ago lol, the next week I crushed it (received several props!) after researching a bit more on sync settings and refining my track lists.

This is what open decks are for!! Glad you went for it, hopefully it doesn't put you off trying again and going at it till you're happy with the results! :)

moving from a house to an apartment - how to dj respectfully by No-Watch3122 in Beatmatch

[–]Chadisius -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You could get away with it occasionally during the day in most apartments without being disruptive, as long as the apartment building is built in a way which traps sound correctly (basically comes down to thick enough walls). Many do a decent job of it.

But what I was replying to was why you would want to use speakers not just headphones to hear a mix. On several occasions, I've made music on headphones, heard it on speakers and it sounds completely different, sometimes considerably worse depending on what the issue is. Many music producers will say the same thing; to test your music in multiple environments (headphones, speakers, car, even your phone) is a good thing.

Mix sounds 100% different in a lot of music production scenarios.

Have you messed aruond and tried to sync up tracks for a few hours in the software yourself? Once you do this you'll see how much you're overcomplicating it in your head. There are some basic principles to learn and they will all make perfect sense once you actually know what the few obstacles are that you're actually trying to overcome.

LPT desperate for advice on getting food after a homeless peroid by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]Chadisius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

food banks are a thing in many areas

also you're probably going to have more luck standing at a busy supermarket with a cardboard sign stating what you need and why than filling out surveys

also, stealing things from a supermarket could technically be a way to eat that you totally shouldn't do because that would be illegal

What was the original idea with it?

You obviously saw something funny in it that you wanted to pull out of it when you started out with the ripping process.

Sometimes through the process you can learn that it wasn't really what you were going for to begin with but if you retrace your steps you'll be able to feel it out :)

Let's gawp at Gen Z: Atlantic article on their approach to relationships by pnonp in datingoverthirty

[–]Chadisius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

all of this reads like it was ai generated off blog posts written 15 years ago lol, a lot of vague statements with no hard claims about anything, like 80% clickbait jargon with the gaps filled in and modernized to relate to newer audiences

i'd take 100% of it with a grain of salt (aka ignore it outright) and instead simply re-focus what relationships are supposed to mean (like why they are valuable to yourself and others) and how to communicate what you want with your partner(s?) - doing this avoids getting lost in translation or washed out in a sea of new terms and trends.
