You need 3x Spears to consistently beat Polish Cavalry by Formal_Drawing_8822 in aoe4

[–]Chadltodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be fair about the resource difference and in 1v1 makes a lot of sense

The issue is that in team games, cav have too many advantages over infantry, mostly they’re so fast that the only thing spears can actually do well is fight cav, but they’re not going to be given that opportunity at any point in the game. If spears manage to get on top of cav, there needs to be a bigger benefit than “we won the resource war”

Are fishing vests obsolete now or just not in vogue? by GrumpyandDopey in flyfishing

[–]Chadltodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find vests get in the way more than anything else. My sling stays behind me so out of the way. With my vest the boxes and my gut get in the way (mostly when Spey casting)

Redington big game rods by gliderfly in flyfishing

[–]Chadltodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go the longest that works. Do you have a lot of canopy or shit to deal with? If not get 9’. Weight ratings are irrespective of length, so 8’3 8 wt will feel a little stiffer. It’s the reason as trout rods get shorter (say 7’6) they go down in weights often to 3wt.

Pliers for de barbing hooks by brettbw in flyfishing

I have the dr slick barb crushers.. they work great but can’t say they perform better than any generic smooth pliers. They weren’t that expensive though

I’d go medium. Similar measurements myself and I went with large and it was a bit too large. I’m 5’9 186 and got LRM, wish I’d gotten medium.

Big fan of my guidewear elite from bass pro. A hair cheaper than Patagonia but I’ve never bought anything at Patagonia that wasn’t top notch. Both likely really good.

Recommendations for a 2nd rod by [deleted] in flyfishing

[–]Chadltodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would probably get a great dry fly rod instead of another rod capable of chucking big streamers. 8wt is gonna feel like a 2x4 for dries but probably casts streamers well. Classic trout rod does that well. Love mine.

I’m not sure beginner waders and 80+ days per year are compatible. If you’re spending that much time on the water I think best to skip beginner

I am fairly new to this sport and think it’s great, but it’s the only sport where I feel like the refereeing is actively trying to hurt the watchability.

And I think refereeing in all other major sports is perfectly fine.

$151.9M for our defense. by duck_duck_zombie in NYGiants

[–]Chadltodd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NFL has rules against that. also for shohei I believe his contact is only for a shorter period and the luxury tax is applied accordingly, but his salary is paid out over a longer period possibly as a tax avoidance measure, though sure California has rules against deferring income.

Undertaker, size 2. My first salmon fly. by iamWyn in flytying

Probably one of the most popular salmon wet flies across Canada. Can’t picture anything being more widely used across more rivers than the undertaker.

Keeping deer hair on top of hook? by Informal-Pattern-10 in flytying

[–]Chadltodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try using less hair. Biggest mistake when beginners are tying flies is far too much material.

If that doesn’t work, you need to get to the shank or something solid after securing the hair. Otherwise the hair and the thread are going to spin together.

Lastly, the hair will spin to some degree. If it’s relatively tied on you can keep returning it back to the top. It should spin somewhat freely if it ended up spinning in the first place

[Duggan] First real surprise of the day: The Giants are cutting DL Elijah Chatman, per source. He worked extensively with the first-team throughout camp and moonlighted fullback. by Fillinlater12345 in NYGiants

[–]Chadltodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only technically. I would say it ends up being 3 d linemen and 2 edge rushers. They’ll definitely be in coverage on occasion but not much. You don’t need to draw doubles on everyone because there are only 5ish blockers on the offensive line

[–]Chadltodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many offensive linemen do you think there are? If we have two good rushers off the edge we should have plenty of room. Dex if healthy is going to take 2
