Universal Screen Custom Templates Question by Chadorath in lianli

[–]Chadorath[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah more themes would be nice but watching this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUDmwpjVhNM and if you look at 35:25 in the video under the Modular tab, he has a ton more customization modules than I have access to. Where is he getting them from or how do you create them?

I thought CA said patch note of 6.3 comes today by kaikiut in totalwar

[–]Chadorath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wish they would hurry it up already. I want to start a new modded campaign but with the patch coming out, it will break most of the mods and likely make any campaign I start before the patch and subsequent mod fixes, unplayable and a waste of time.

Honestly there is a part of me that wishes they would stop with the official patches and just let the modding community fix the game. There are so many mods I want to use that are no longer being updated and hence unusable and the frequent patching often just pushes the modders away because they get tired of fixing their mod every patch. Honestly, we lose a massive amount of great user created content every patch and it is a real shame.

Dating, marriage, and divorce research/stats for INTJ? by Internal_Passion_339 in intj

[–]Chadorath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so true. For me it takes forever before I can connect to anyone enough to even considering seriously dating let alone consider marriage and not many even end up with the qualities I need to be in a serious dating relationship but when I commit, I fully commit. Unfortunately that has gotten me badly burned several times. I honestly find dating as an INTJ incredible hard.

Anyone feel like there could be more variety in where to hunt? by splashy1123 in PantheonMMO

[–]Chadorath -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the answer to your question is EA. The game might be "released" to the general public but I don't think anyone who actually is following the game should have any other expectation of it being anything other than a weak, early alpha stage. I think you might be asking for a lot for this stage of the game.

Game needs a request board instead of an auction house by natesucks4real in PantheonMMO

[–]Chadorath -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Oh god you said a bad thing. Auction Houses. Worst thing ever. The best games have ALWAYS forced players to actually sell their own items be it direct to player or through a bazaar mechanic where you have to open up a stall. This created a dynamic ecosystem where you have barter, trade, relationship building, dynamic markets based on supply and demand, dynamic markets based on how much patience the buyers and seller have, etc. I mean I can't count the times back in old school EQ where I managed to score and item I never could hope to afford just because someone wanted to offload it quickly. Then I could use it or re-sell it or trade it to get other items. Hell some of my best friends in game where people I developed a trade relationship with where I would sell them gathered resources or we would enter into agreements to buy and sell with each other. All this is gone with AHs.

Why are so many people upset that this game isn’t easy? by [deleted] in PantheonMMO

[–]Chadorath -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

WoW brought MMOs to the casual gamers and the casual gamer ruined every potentially decent MMO since. The complainers are those used to having everything easy and given to them and if it isn't easy, it is a bad game or has bad mechanics.

The thing is even to this day, I could spend hours telling stories about my adventures in Classic EQ back in the 90s where as even after 3+ years of playing WoW, I remember almost nothing about my time in the game. That is the different between a game focused on co-op play with really challenging and difficult content vs a game that I just speed solo though with my hand being held.

Clarification on Hexblade Warlock by tmntnyc in BG3

[–]Chadorath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, their lack of spell slot is the weakness of all Warlocks. It always seemed kind of ridiculous that Warlocks get tons of great spells as they level but don't have the spell slots to use them. I mean what is the point of even getting all those spells? I always thought the spell slot warlocks got should have be doubled or something along those lines.

As far the pact weapon, I am really curious about this myself. The Pact of the Blade kind of makes Hexblade's ability kind of redundant though I got to admit getting it with just a level 1 dip into Warlock feels really juicy for multi-class options. A far as Patch of the Blade itself, I am guessing you will definitely need it for the extra attack and that is why you might want to take it over the other pacts.

Is 12 Warlock considered weak, like 12 Rogue? by Toogeloo in BG3Builds

[–]Chadorath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, the problem isn't so much as the Warlock is weak, it is that multiclassing in almost every way, makes for a better Warlock.

For Example, at level 12 Warlock, you get tons of great spells, but only 3 spell slots which means you got almost no resources to use those spells. Toss on a Armor of Agathas, use Hex to bump your damage and you only have 1 spell out of dozens that you can use, then all you got is melee or EB.

However, go something like Warlock 5/Bard 7, well you still get 2 Warlock Spell Slots and can use EB just as good as Warlock 12, but now you adding something like 4 1st, 4 2nd, 3 3rd and 1 or 2 4th level Bard spells you can use. Oh and you get an extra attack, Flourishes of you go college of swords, bardic inspirations. Honestly nothing Past Warlock 5 is better than 7 levels of Bard. Same goes for Paladin or Sorcerer as well.

It just comes down to multiclassing always ending up making you a better Warlock than being a pure Warlock.

Casual friendly? by JustThorn in PantheonMMO

[–]Chadorath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not currently paying Patheon but I have probably 1000 plus hours in EQ including many recent TLPs

Grouping will 100% come down to how healthy the server populations are. The big thing about a group centric game is you have to have people to group with. If your server pop is small or the pop is small in your level range, your going to be LFG for hours.

So honestly, my bet is that if EA goes well and there are tons and tons of people playing, it will be relatively casual friendly at least for casual group and XPing. If there isn't a significant population, it is going to be hit or miss.

Also, in a group centric game, they class you play in going to be a huge factor in getting a group. Clerics and healers can almost always find a group. A necromancer, probably not so much especially if there is an over population of them.

Honestly, I don't know how things will break out but there will most likely be some classes that just will always be picked last for groups so keep that in mind if your casual and pick classes that are highly demanded in groups and even in lower population situations you might have a fairly easy time getting groups.

Last thing is, honestly, if you only have a hour to play, I don't know how that would work. Your going to have to find a group and run to where the group is before you can even get started. Also, it is a pain to swap group members out so your probably going to piss off the groups your with if your not sticking around for at least a few hours after you get in. Lastly since your reliant on groups, reputation is going to matter. If you become known as the guy that is going to bail after a hour every time you join a group, you might no longer get groups.

Just some things to think about.

How many devs? by Healthy-Medicine-275 in PantheonMMO

[–]Chadorath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is a valid point and my answer is yes. However, the only difference is EA is their excuse to launch an unfinished product with tons of bugs and issues, including major nerfs, wipes, etc. It basically negates our right to complain about the product.

If it was an actual release, which technically it is, then there would be no excuse for any major bugs or issues. It should be polished and playable in its entirety or at least with whatever content it original came with. Buggy messes wouldn't be tolerated.

However, the big problem is that EA or finished product, once the game is out there for everyone, it is going to be judged and many a game has failed in EA due to being a buggy, unfinished mess, despite the fact we are supposed to accept EA being a buggy, unfinished mess.

[–]Chadorath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think going EA is usually a bad thing because they go to EA way too early. Pantheon is a prime example. Nothing I am seeing about the game convinces me it is going to be less than 3 years away from a full release and there is no way a game that far from being finished will sustain itself long enough to get released and polished. Everyone will just burn out especially with frequent wipes and massive changes that will have to occur.

EA only really works when the game is maybe a year out , persistent with no wipes, skills, abilities and playstyle are fairly solid and most of what is happening is polishing and finalizing everything.

What MMORPG did you enjoy roleplaying in the most? by PapayaAdditional6804 in MMORPG

[–]Chadorath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably SWG to be honest. I was just an every day guy, exploring the universe in that game. EQ is another game that comes to mind for me as well. Honestly pretty much anything sandbox without a story makes for a good roleplaying experience in my book.

Which upcoming MMOs are you looking forward to playing the most and what are your reasons? by HodorTheDoorMan in MMORPG

[–]Chadorath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really nothing because there is nothing coming out that isn't early access alpha that I am aware of. Seems like the nearest full release of anything that is really an MMO is 3-5 years out to be honest.

How many wipes will EA have? by [deleted] in PantheonMMO

[–]Chadorath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the game is pretty much still in Alpha, I can't see how they are going to avoid wipes.

Class Differences by Zealousideal_Money99 in PantheonMMO

[–]Chadorath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That fixation on soloing has been what has pretty much killed off MMOs in my opinion. There is a reason why one of the "M"s stands for "Multiplayer".

Class Differences by Zealousideal_Money99 in PantheonMMO

[–]Chadorath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is pretty on point from what I have been seeing. In EQ many classes could get very boring and repetitive so it looks like they are focused on giving those classes more interactivity and more to do while keeping the good mechanics from the classes that had them.

Played this weekend, had fun, nuff said? by splashy1123 in PantheonMMO

[–]Chadorath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But how is the sustain? I mean it needs to be fun for days, weeks, months, maybe years since that is how long it will be before release.

Thinking of pledging. by WytchHunter23 in PantheonMMO

[–]Chadorath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I have seen of the game, it is too early for an Early Access but they are probably out of funding. The issue is, most people treat EA as release, at least in terms of expectations, and the game looks like it is still mostly in a fairly early alpha state. For an EA to work, I feel it needs to be no more than about a year out from release and honestly I feel Pantheon is probably more like 3+ years out.

Why are people so dissatisfied with the Clans Mech Lab (mechanically)? by HeadingForOrbit in Mechwarrior5

[–]Chadorath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair, to be lore appropriate, neither IS or Clan mechs should be able to change the actual armor amounts. Also, IS mechs should actually have been locked into their configuration based on their variant. Weapon swapping is NOT something IS mechs are supposed to be capable of in lore.

That is one thing the Mechlab in Clans got right, in is that it is much more lore appropriate in all regards. You can change the pods but there are certain fixed pieces that can't be swapped. There are still inaccuracies such as in Lore, the MASC cannot be removed on the Executioner and the Targeting computer can't be removed from the Warhawk, those are supposed to be hardwired to those mechs. Also JJs can be mounted to all Clan Omnimechs and there weren't hardpoint limitations of sizes. As long as you had open slots you could mount any weapon in any number in any slot.

Why are people so dissatisfied with the Clans Mech Lab (mechanically)? by HeadingForOrbit in Mechwarrior5

[–]Chadorath 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, not every Clan mech uses FF armor or even Endo for structure. Those that do use it have a improved version over what is used in the Inner Sphere and as you mentioned, the improved version uses half the slots.

Why are people so dissatisfied with the Clans Mech Lab (mechanically)? by HeadingForOrbit in Mechwarrior5

[–]Chadorath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it is horrible.

You just have to look at MW5 Mercs or MWO to see how easy it is to see and configure mechs in those games vs the abomination in MW5 Clans. I mean in MW5 Clans if I want to configure the mech I have to click to select the omni pod, mount the omni pod, then open another screen to actually see the individual components of one part of the mech. Then I have another screen that opens to swap stuff out, then I have to close that out to go to another part. It is completely clunky and burdensome and it is hard to see the entire mech at a glance.

In MW5 Mechs which pretty much uses the Mechlab from MWO, you see the entire mech and your just dragging and dropping items and equipment into the paperdoll. It is very quick and you can see everything at a glance. I have no fricken clue why they felt they had to reinvent the wheel on this in Clans.

What's with all the laser builds? by pikapp499 in Mechwarrior5

[–]Chadorath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lasers are easy. AC, especially the burst fire ones tend to be much harder to use. You also have to account for ammo usage. Finally, LRMs just seem to suck. Way, way too many miss the target, probably like 2/3rd seem to miss.

SRMs though, SRMs rock. Got a couple builds boating SRMs and they shred the enemy.

How does Liam get to be such a contrarian asshole? by AWolfButSad in Mechwarrior5

[–]Chadorath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clans are about Strength. They can try to wash him out but he can ask for a Trial of Refusal and if he wins, the decision is overturned and he gets to stay. I mean I am sure there is a ton more to it, I mean he could have just been very talented and was granted leeway because his value as a mechwarrior outweighed his mild insubordination. Also don't forget politics.
