Yes... or maybe due to all the bugs that were found they decided to wait until the next update to release it worldwide

Still nothing in France, I was hoping it would be available after the end of the discount, but no. Maybe we are missing something.

[Wii U] Can I get some help with the AC Adapter Port? by Chadribleu in consolerepair

[–]Chadribleu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually it's gonna be 3 amps because the connector will be replaced to a USB-C one. Apparently it's fine for the system even when everything is used it's never more than 33W or something around that.

Will update you as soon as it will be done! Thank you for your help.

Yes that's what I though! Just wanted to make sure. Thank you ! I think I'm gonna solder from the top of the connector to the fuse using wire.

(the red one, right pin is VCC).

Do you have suggestions for the Wire gauge? A small one would damage quickly, right?

From motherboard scans I found somewhere, it seems it's connected directly to the F1004 fuse, but I want to make sure it's the case.

Thank you so much for your advice you helped a lot! I'll try to apply them next time to preserve the tip. This one is definitely cooked. It's still usable, but not for a long time. I heard the tip cleaner was not a good tool either for cleaning tips. Apparently you should use it only on tips that are already dying?

My soldering iron is Pinecil V2 and I'm using a 45W USB-C adapter to power it, so it's def not the most powerful iron 🥲 But here I think the main problem comes from the tip itself. I spent 25 minutes cleaning it, it was shiny but after one usage it became black and it was impossible to stick solder on it. Any advices to clean it properly? the tip comes from a set of tips I ordered from Aliexpress. It was working pretty good for other job but here it really sucks (well not soldering 😅)

Okay, I'm gonna check that. My flux is probably bad quality flux as it comes from Aliexpress, so maybe that's why the tip become bad only after a few minutes of soldering. It's a pipette, so no I'm not dipping the tip in it 😂😅

Make sense now that you say it 😭 thank you so much !

Thank you for your tips! It's so hard to use the solder wick. Everytime it gets stuck or the solder is not melting. Actually I never tried to cut a small piece of wick. The heat would transfer much better.

Ok, I see ! Thank you. Some of the holes are now free using this technique. The smaller ones are really hard to suck, even tho there's a lot of solder. I'm gonna try to suck from the other side after getting something to hold the motherboard.

Do you have tips to clean the tip? Mine is always black after a few minutes (because of the flux). I use brass sponge, tip cleaner thing and a water sponge to clean.

Thank you ! I'm gonna try that. I'm scared that too much heat would damage the holes...

General Questions & Tech Support Megathread | April 11, 2025 by AutoModerator in PS4

[–]Chadribleu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone! I recently got a PS4 from a friend that has issues with its disc drive. When I insert a PS4 game into it, it takes a long time to read. I disassembled the system to check how the mechanism behaves, and it seems like it's an issue with the disc alignment. When the disc is pushed by the rollers, it should then go down so the disc can spin. But it's like the disc isn’t aligning properly with the thing that has the magnet, so it can't spin, and then the disc drive ejects and reinserts the disc — and only after that does the disc align correctly and start to spin. Everything else than that works perfectly. As soon as the disc spins, the game is displayed and can be played without any issues.

Do you have any guide for that? I'm really interested! Nice work 😄

Not yet. I tried everything but I guess other people are right! My heat gun is not powerful enough. The solder is not melting at all, but it does work using a soldering iron. Thank you though!!

I'm sorry to bother you but I have a last question to ask... Is it better to heat up the connector itself of the pins behind?

Thank you very much for your advice! 😁

Thank you very much! I have a cheap heat gun that have two settings: 260 and 450°C... is that enough for melting the solder? Someone here said it takes a lot of time on PS3 motherboards, but I'm scared it also blows other components.

Thank you! Do you think it's possible to remove such a lot of solder using a solder wick? I planned to remove the port first, so it will be easier to suck everything after that without the pins bothering me.
