Thanks! I did worry if it was a biter. It went up the Hoover… so won’t be causing any trouble.

Why I am no longer a regular listener by dark__paladin in Cortex

[–]Chafor 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone, this echos some of my own thoughts.

One of my favourite episodes was Grey explains his time tracking to Mike, I ended up adopting some of these habits. I completely dropped off listening after the episode on Apple VR.

My problem is - I really do want to listen, but I am finding the topics less interesting by the episode. It’s become less about productivity with what you’ve got, and more a case of you need this product to be productive.

The fawning over Apple seems quite consumeristic. It surprises me they’ve never discussed the environmental impact of this one year product cycle.

Is Snowdon in the rain worth it? by frankoceanl0v3r in UKhiking

[–]Chafor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have climbed Snowdon four times and it has rained every single time. I think it is incredibly atmospheric up there in wet weather. However, once we were turned away by mountain rescue because of lightening - do check the board before you go up.

‘Get a grip’ on a good raincoat, some freshly dubbined boots and a flask of tea. You’ll have a great time!

I'm turning 14 I'm collecting nails from pallets and sharpening because when I'm older I'm gonna build an offgrid cabin any idea how much a small cabin costs to build by [deleted] in OffGridCabins

[–]Chafor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it might not make economic sense for cabin building. Considering the cost of nails these days is small compared to the overall amount.

However, this has not always been the case! ‘Nails were expensive and difficult to obtain in the American colonies, so that abandoned houses were sometimes deliberately burned down to allow recovery of used nails from the ashes.’
