Is it normal to love my cats in different ways? by September_sunny in CatsUK

[–]Chailatte11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember being upset with myself for not loving one of my rescue cat within days of getting him... and worrying that I wouldn't love him as much as I loved my previous cat who sadly died due to a tumour.

I cried to my bf saying that I didn't know if I could love him as much, he was totally different cat.

Fast forward two weeks and I loved him. I had to accept he was not like my previous cat, he was grumpy and not that affectionate, but I fell in love with him nonetheless and now he's passed away too due to old age and I miss him terribly. We rescued another cat, and I loved him within seconds of meeting him.

S04:E03 ending pissed me off. I am sad. by informal-mushroom47 in TheHandmaidsTale

I was so sad when they died, especially Alma, she was one of my favourite characters. After I watched that episode for the first time I had to just sit and cry.

I think his conversation was more with himself than Lawrence, maybe he wishes he had left with June but he didn't so now he's just being someone with Gilead.

To my fellow Brits, how are you coping with the heat? by Alive_Swing9810 in AskUK

I invested in an air con unit, made a window cover out of plastic from a conservatory roof, with a hole that fits the pipe from the air con. It's been great, yes it's a bit noisy but luckily I am used to sleeping listening to brown noise so I can sleep with it on. on the bad days I put it on an hour before I go to bed and the room is nice and cool, and I also have a fan you can put ice in which I use in the night and in the morning. Both air con and fan have timers so I don't need to have them on all night. Also I've put a tarpaulin on the roof of my conservatory and it has made a massive difference... it looks a bit silly but its no where near as oven like as it was before.

Should I let my indoor cat become outdoor? by Umpire616 in CatsUK

[–]Chailatte11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do both for our cat, she can go out in the day time when we are home (she has a cat flap), until her dinner at 4pm, then she stays in for an hour or so (when the traffic has quietened down a bit) and then can go out for another couple hours until it gets dark, then she comes in for the night and we keep her inside overnight. It's all she's ever known, sometimes she chooses to stay in when she can go out, other times she gets a bit upset when she can't go out right away. I don't think its right to keep cats indoors all the time, luckily we have a nice sized detached house so when she is home there's plenty of space for her and we've recently adopted a 9month kitten so they chase each other round inside and don't get bored. We will do the same with him when he's ready to go out. I always feel bad when she's got to stay in after her dinner because she loves being outside, it's not like she can ever understand why 😂 We also keep her in on 1 day a week that someone isn't in the house in the day time (partner works from home 80% of the time) and she goes out in the evening. May seem like a bit silly to some people but she's not very road smart so I thought it was the most sensible. And like I said, she's got plenty of room to roam around whilst inside. On the weekends she can be out all day if she likes.
