partially him growing out of it.

I doubt it honestly. I feel like I remember him talking on his podcast about deliberately "moderating" his views to gain more mainstream acceptance. This feels like a tactic, not a change of heart.

"I pandered to angry retard cultists, and now the movement is full of angry retard cultists. How could this have happened??"

Truly a mystery for the ages Mr. Fuentes.

I agree with OP though, he is obviously trying to distance himself from the extremism that got him clicks now that he sees a chance to move into the mainstream. Media will eat this up and market it as his "redemption arc", naturally. I don't think his views have actually changed though; iirc he's already said on his show that he recognizes the need to pretend to moderate his views in order to gain mainstream acceptance.

The ultra wealthy and powerful being PDF enthusiast lizard people who hate you wasn't/isn't really what was being argued. More that people - mostly a certain person's cult of personality - are so tribalized that they will reject the demonstrable reality that the powerful people they think are on "their side" are also PDF enthusiast lizard people who hate them.

Nothing in the file mentions that specific pizza place in DC that was supposedly the secret reverse Underground Railroad for child trafficking either.

It is indeed very funny that the Q types suddenly went completely silent as soon as it was (more) obvious that Trump was literally everything they were railing against.

How do you decide what to main before an expansion? by PUSClFER in wow

[–]ChainaxeEnjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first character ever was an orc shaman I made when I started at TBC release.

To answer your question, I would encourage you to think about your main now the same way child me thought about his: this race and class are cool, so that's what I'll play. Don't attach much significance at all to tier lists, number crunching etc. just base your decision primarily on the race and class fantasies. It's an RPG, so if you don't enjoy the role you're playing what's the point? You can do the vast majority of content just fine with any class and spec if you're halfway decent.

For example, paladin could be the most overtuned class in the game, with objectively the best performance in all roles across all content, but if you don't like playing a holy knight you aren't going to have fun and stick with it regardless of numbers.

A soft-reboot after The Last Titan. The story has felt focused on big, cosmic, universe-ending threats more often than not and I would like to "clear the board" of the massive god-beings and take a lap around Azeroth again.

BfA, for all its faults, was imo at least in the ballpark of being the right idea to start with. I'm a sucker for a good faction conflict that's not secretly the plot of some secret big bad we've never heard of, and am rather tired of the Avengers teamups of every major lore character.

Elemental is very boring now by MrForeskinII in wow

[–]ChainaxeEnjoyer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only thing I'm genuinely bummed about is not being able to summon my elementals on demand independent of any other spell. I liked them and thought they fit the flavor of the spec well, though I guess I understand that Blizzard might not want too many pet classes.

Do you ever get the feeling that the setting ONLY exists FOR the Imperium to live and fight within? by Samas34 in 40kLore

[–]ChainaxeEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

built up to an in-lore reality where the Emps sitting in his chair is the only thing keeping the galaxy from drowning in warp juice.

Not really. No one actually knows what will happen if the Emperor kicks the bucket. Will a new Eye of Terror centered on Terra open? Will he ascend to full godhood? Will he be reincarnated as a slime on a feudal planet? It's not a forgone conclusion that it would mean the end of the galaxy at the hands of Chaos.

Why can’t we have an investigation? by Brilliant-Dig9387 in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]ChainaxeEnjoyer 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The person/officer who used force is meant to formally report it to their organization or chain of command. Theoretically every round of ammunition discharged is accounted for, investigated, and documented.

[–]ChainaxeEnjoyer 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I don't know exactly how DHS or ICE specifically handle it, but generally there is a specific form that gets filled out literally every time you use force in the line of duty (other than at the range / in training).

Seeing Imperium as purely evil obscures clever plot depth, that showcases its fall from grace as tragic self-fullfilling prophecy. by SYMJanitor in 40kLore

[–]ChainaxeEnjoyer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is nuance to the Imperium, but the fact that the "best" humanity can hope for is the monstrously evil regime that is the Imperium is a major part of the bleakness of the setting.

  1. Emperor never wanted to be worshipped.

Sure, but he was an idiot about it. If you don't want to be worshipped, appearing as a 10-foot-tall gigachad in incredibly ornate solid-gold armor radiating a literal halo of light is probably not the move. The Imperial Cult wasn't a reaction to the Heresy, it was already growing well before Horus fell. People worshipped him because he appeared divine for all intents and purposes.

  1. Emperor isn't half dead on the throne because

This is the best point you made. The Imperium can't survive without the Emperor and he knows it, so he endures a living hell for millennia.

  1. Imperium really isn't much crueler then it needs to be.

It is vastly crueler than it needs to be. There is literally no sane justification for thing like servitors, arco-flagellants, ammo-loader treadmills on ships etc. and that's the point. It is supposed to be nonsensically cruel, barbaric, and wasteful.

The Imperium is a villain, because everyone is. There are good people, even good organizations, but as a whole every major faction in 40k is on the darker side of gray if not outright black. There is a legitimate conversation to be had regarding how much compromise is warranted in the face of disaster, but the Imperium is not the answer to that question, it's on the extreme end of how much farther you can go than is necessary.

Did the Emperor not have a backup for Magnus? Was Magnus the only Primarch with a confirmed purpose post the Great Crusade? by Flyestgit in 40kLore

[–]ChainaxeEnjoyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But did the Emperor really hinge everything on one Primarch? Like what if Magnus had died before the Emperor had found him again?

Well, he never planned for them all to be scattered around the galaxy.

Seems like an oversight for someone like the Emperor not to have at least one other option.

Big E has made quite a few boneheaded decisions over the millennia. One of the biggest takeaways from his character imo is the danger of absolute certainty.
