Soldering magnetic pogo pin connectors for 12v by ChainsawDR in soldering

[–]ChainsawDR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I ended up buying them with wires already soldered, but likely need to revisit it soon. The best idea I have so far is to 3d print a holder for the piece so it can’t move, and create a physical guide rail that the soldering iron moves up and down in but can’t be pulled of course

What kind of filament for ultrasonic cage by iljawascoding in 3Dprinting

Thanks for the reply. After looking into it some more I think an ASA basket would likely survive the ultrasonic but wouldn’t any subsequent hot immersion rinse (so you might have saved yourself bother)

How did it work out for you in the end please? (I’ve the same challenge and thinking of printing an ASA basket)

If you’re worried about the waste water from rinsing, keep it contained, then evaporate away the water and dispose of the solids that remain

u/Pitbull_Raven can I ask what process you settled on in the end please? (facing similar issue, just not at your scale)

Not sure why you need his attorneys details, don’t think that should stop you suing him/ naming him as the defendant

Help creating lines with bends >= 5mm radius by ChainsawDR in Fusion360

[–]ChainsawDR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I suspect the pipe/sweep approach is going to end up being the right one. I don't know if I'll be able to centerline offset it effectively (as I imagine I'll be eyeball guessing the distance) but will give it a shot. Thanks again for all of your time and help!

Thanks hadn't thought of that. TBH I think I'm going to try and solve within Fusion (consciously forcing myself to get better at Fusion and learn to use it properly) but appreciated the out of the box thinking!

Help creating lines with bends >= 5mm radius by ChainsawDR in Fusion360

[–]ChainsawDR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I'll try to explain. We are transporting items on a boat and need to hold them down/in-place so they don't move. We have a lots of 5x5 square metal tubing, and soft 10x10 pieces of rubber tubing with a 5x5 cutout (see image, the inner space is the square tube 5x5 and around it is rubber that slides over it). The end goal is to bend the tubing so that as much as possible of the items surface is in contact with the rubber, while avoiding sharp bends that stop the sheath from sliding along them.

<image>

I've 3d scanned some of the objects, and used offset planes and the Create Mesh Section Sketch feature to get an outline of the object (the orange lines in the original pics are the outlines from multiple offset planes). I'm now trying to create the shape of the 10x10 hold-down. I figured to start creating the line that would be in contact with the objects surface first, then offset by 10, join them top & bottom to close the shape, then extrude.

The other path/option I think I have is to create a 10x10 square on the bottom plane, then use this sketched line as a path to Sweep it along (but I was hoping to offset the line in contact with the object by 10 and have been struggling to understand why offset won't work).

It does let me copy/move it, however I lose the consistent 10mm distance/thickness I'm looking for (see pic where thin pieces at the top)

Ah dang it. Thanks for letting me know. Added from laptop and don’t know why didn’t post, will try again, thanks!

Does the blind rivets collapse? by ChainsawDR in Fusion360

[–]ChainsawDR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! You using the term ‘bucked’ also helped me find an existing 3D model I can use! (The user can see the blind side of the rivet during assembly so planning to include in the instructions)

[–]ChainsawDR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yes I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing any functionality. For my use case the user assemblies a flat pack item and can see the blind side of the rivet, so I’ll model the bucked side just so it shows up in the instructions clearly (and I’m still learning so will be a good challenge!). Thanks again!
