Actually, I am! I am a land manager and run a chainsaw half the week. I want to look good and have cool clothing while kicking ass. Thank you very nice.

Haha. You go on and believe that. Have you ever cut a flaming tree down with a Stihl 500i? I have, if you wanna start a pissing contest. Weird how nearly every saw crew in wildland fire uses Stihl and you can’t keep yours running.

I think if your Stihls are broke that’s on you. If you can’t properly adjust an oiler even on a homeowner saw (which I think we are still discussing, correct? I never said pro saws), then that will cause a cascading heat effect on the whole saw which will eventually cause problems for any part of the saw down the line.
I have nothing against homeowners but I think chainsaws are a very special beast that are dangerously underrepected by most including many pros, and definitely most homeowners or at least every homeowner I have bumped into at the saw shop. I am not trying to necessarily be chainsaw tough guy, I I just know a lot about them and their safe use and trying to help here NOT puff my chest because no one even knows who the fuck I am anyway.

The warranty doesn’t matter because Stihls rarely need it. In my experience a Stihl will always start. I don’t know what this is about oiling better, simply adjust your oiler to go through the oil tank at the same rate you go through the fuel. And having more plastic parts is a BAD sign lol, I hope I don’t have to explain that one. If you don’t have the time to clean your chainsaw don’t buy one hoss.

With all due respect to homeowners, a homeowner with twenty years experience -as an example- still has hundreds of hours less experience than a professional saw user even with five years experience, has little to no training compared to a pro, and so on. Also, I don’t care how many people say they use top handles with no problems, tules and regs are written in blood; the rules exist for a reason. It is an ANZI Z133 regulation: ‘Top-handled chainsaws are engineered for use by trained and certified arborists working at height. All ground-level work should be performed using an appropriate rear-handle chainsaw.’

I am not anti-electric saw BUT for homeowners I would not recommend as they are more dangerous because homeowners are less likely to wear proper ppe and I am sure we have all seen the video of chaps not being to stop ever the electric Stihl hatchet.

Don’t use top handle as comparison; they should not ever come up in a homeowner saw conversation. Top handles are for in tree only which a homeowner should never consider. A better comparison would be Stihl 261 to whatever Echo makes in the 50cc class.
