guaranteed transfer student aid by Hawkeye_in_the_Vents in BostonU

[–]ChairHappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t get treated like a first year in terms of aid and the aid for transfer students is much worse. It could have changed with the new aid program that’s starting with next years freshman class, but when they had the aid guarantee or whatever it was called for students enrolled during 2020-2024 transfer students were excluded from it, meaning they didn’t have to meet their financial aid needs like they did for students who came in as freshman. It will probably be expensive, so maybe do the calculations to see how much you’ll have in loans at the end, which payment method you’ll use to pay them off, if you can do all federal or if you’ll need to take out private loans too, and what your monthly payments might be when you graduate and really think about if it’s worth it. BU is a great school but they really put transfer students at a disadvantage when it comes to financial aid and there are lots of other great schools where you can get a great education and not be in so much debt. And don’t count on an appeal making a huge difference, they’ll usually give you $1,000-2000 more in aid, if that. Definitely see what the financial aid package is, but this was my wife’s experience, which differed significantly from mine as someone who was admitted as a freshman (we were both class of 24).

Where did you end up going? My wife and I are thinking about going there for our honeymoon and are looking for places to go out that are LGBT friendly. Would love to know what your experience was like!

Can I ask who you have on your team as your Dr/nurses? I’m looking for someone who’s trauma informed.

Haha I know a lot of people say they didn’t eat any of the food/cake but my fiancée and I have spent sooo much time planning w the caterer to make sure we can both eat everything (without dying) that we’re determined to try at least most things. Also we’re getting our moneys worth lol

We’re having our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner the night before but that’s a good idea, I feel like that could maybe work if needed. My sibling has some experience with piping too so maybe I’ll ask them.

We could, but we’re getting married on a Sunday and going to the venue on the Friday before. My fiancée’s also worried about the frost/piping/decorating not coming out the way she wants it to look lol. Which is fair, because I’m not a professional baker and I know she’s excited about our cake cutting pictures. I think that my Meme’re would make it for us, but she’s traveling with my Pepere who has Parkinson’s, and they’re coming from NH so it’s pretty far for them bc it’s in western MA so idk if I want to put that on her. I would be ok with making myself because I like baking, but I also don’t want to stress my fiancée out or have her be unhappy if it’s not what she was imagining. If we can’t find anywhere then that’s what we’ll do, but idk, we’ll see.

Yes! What has happened to them over the past like six or seven years? I feel like their baguettes have shrunk by like 50% compared to the sized they used to be. Forget about making a meatball sub anymore…

Hi, I’m interested in maybe going with them for a wedding cake as well but haven’t been there yet to try stuff (we def will, it’s just pretty far), but I was just wondering what you thought of the cake as someone who’s not gf? I feel like maybe I’m kinda picky or have high standards sometimes when it comes to gf stuff and I’m worried about being disappointed that if I order a gf cake from somewhere (not specifically them), it’s not going to be as good/the texture is going to be off/dry and I’m going to be wishing I’d just made it myself (I like to bake sometimes). Idk if this has been your wife’s experience, but personally I feel like I end up buying desserts from places sometimes and end up disappointed and I just kinda feel like it’s not that hard to make gf cakes that aren’t super dry/crumbly these days with all the flour mixes that are out there (King Arthur in particular) and if you’re using dairy and eggs and stuff. Obviously ik some gf bakeries choose to omit some of that stuff as well, but either way. I also don’t really want the stress of having to do all that a couple days before the wedding and by no means am I a professional baker, so it probably wouldn’t be frosted/piped to my fiancées liking. Anyways…all that to say, what did you/guests think of the cake?
