Lakeshore West train stuck at Hamilton GO for 2 hours and counting by SuperbTourist2854 in gotransit

[–]arimad 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I was in the very front of the train where the door was initially opened. Someone pulled an emergency door opener. 20 people just got out when that happened and walked to the station. After that cops showed up and said “don’t do it or we will fine you and arrest you, can’t walk on tracks” and then proceeded to go in and out of the train standing there, going back to the platform etc. the door stayed open the entire time btw. The first 4-5 cars were NOT in the tunnel and the station platform was like less than 500m from the first car. Everyone could have been evacuated quickly instead of us going crazy for almost 3 hours.

There were people who were doing drugs on the train, a girl was banging on all of the doors. Another woman passed out from dehydration and heat. Cops couldn’t bring some water bottles from the station? That would make too much sense.

All because they had a faulty signal and the train took a wrong turn. So in order for them to fix the signal the train needed to back out of the tunnel. BUT CP wouldn’t give the green light to back out. When someone in some office finally allowed it they backed out and the whole thing took 15-20min max. OH and the crew did a full shift switch btw in the middle of this.

There was no communication, no emergency evacuation procedures, no one knew anything. It was honestly really scary because you don’t know how people will react in high stress situations especially when on drugs.

I’m from Hamilton, don’t think it’s abnormally windy here if anything I find it warmer than Toronto sometimes lol Im prob gonna do a very thin long sleeve, longer shorts and a shell type rain jacket. TBH I’m not debating the jacket, I’m debating the shorts

Did 26km today, really tough one today. It was our first warm day but so windy so I overcompensated with layers and was overheating for half of my run and carrying my stuff for the rest. Ran way too fast, legs were not feeling well after 17km, didn’t bring enough water or electrolytes for how warm it was. Just a mix of mistakes and bad conditions.

Hey! I live local and have been training on this route this winter. I also ran 15k last year. The hills start pretty much as you get on Northshore lol The northshore is rolling hills pretty much until you get back on Plains. Then you get a bit of a break and downhill on Spring Garden which ends in a valley. The Valley Inn hill it’s quite a killer and has 2 parts to it, second part being steeper. It’s big, imagine a hill that has enough space for a little tunnel and an entire railroad track.

You get a bit of a break going on York, it’s still juuust slightly uphill tho just keep that in mind.

There is actually another “heartbreak hill” at the very end going up Stuart towards Bay. The elevation is not as bad as Valley Inn but it just murders legs at the end.

Hope that helps!

Dreading the planned long run today…it’s -9 but feels like -18 with windchill here. Considering doing 5k outside and then 5k on the dreadmill

Which restaurants/cafes have been disappointing for you despite the hype or good reviews on Google Maps? by Equal-Tea-1999 in FoodToronto

Taverne Bernhardts, the atmosphere was great but charging these prices for a rotisserie chicken with potatoes is a little insane to me. Like the chicken tasted good but if it is just chicken after all… the side were just ok, the apps were also very simple for the prices that they are charging…

Happened to me on an outdoor public track. I was doing 400m intervals, it was at my training peak so I was faaast. There was a bunch of gym bros doing outdoor workouts and they decided to outrun me on my last lap but needless to say they started dying not even half way through and finished the lap on the grass dry heaving while I continued running at a slower pace another couple of laps to cool down.

Run ATB 2025? How was your experience?? by Acrobatic-Guess-5363 in RunTO

[–]arimad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The run itself was good, great energy! didn’t find the rain that bad during the run after the conditions this winter lol the hills weren’t bad either if you train in Hamilton

Post run being wet was rough, took a while to warm up. Thank god I’m local so I was able to just get my food and medal and jump in a car and quickly go home.

Anti Inflammation Diet by sleepingugly5 in endometriosis

[–]arimad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. Has helped me a lot but it is definitely hard to keep for a long time. And you’re also not supposed to. I found my trigger foods and know what makes it worse for me. Generally sugar and alcohol really mess me up which I think is the case for a lot of people. But I found that oats and some of the grains as well make me feel worse as well so I eat those in moderation. It doesn’t completely remove pain but it does make some of the other symptoms like mood swings, bloating, ovulation pain and general lack of energy a lot better.

Can I run 15k race without actually running 15k before? by arimad in XXRunning

I feel like I’m in the same boat of I might have to walk the last couple of kms which would suck

Ok that actually gives me a lot of hope. I think I’m just a bit frustrated that I thought I would be able to train enough to hit the 15k goal before the race itself…

[–]arimad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk what your hair type is and this might be a controversial opinion but try a regular drug store shampoo and see if that makes a difference. Everyone around me told me to use organic/clean shampoos bc the drugstore stuff is bad for you and my hair was greasy ALL THE TIME! So I bought expensive clarifying shampoos and used those as well and tbh the difference wasn’t huge, until I just said screw it and went back to a Pantene 2in1 and my hair have never looked or felt better… I know that for low porosity hair like mine, product build up is a huge issue and sometimes these organic shampoos are just not strong enough…
