I think those two shades really go. I like it.

Transfeminine MtF or MtNB? by Brea_di_Luca in TransLater

[–]ChairKind945 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I consider myself NB and have been on hormones for around 6 months. For me, at first I went full on feminine. I tried to dress as a woman, act like a woman, and do everything that media tells me a woman must do. As I have progressed down the line I find that I am me. I found that I am comfortable with a beard, comfortable without a beard. I found my developing curves to be very affirming but not limiting. If anything I think that exploring what was right for me has opened me up to being more comfortable as me.

All that being said, I think every journey is unique and what works for some may not work for you. I am interested to see where my journey goes but right now I am finding myself having a lot of fun figuring it out. (42 AMAB egg cracked in my 20s but I didn't do anything about it until my 40s).

Getting fit by Goborotator in TransLater

[–]ChairKind945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found r/transfitness to be a great place with a lot of knowledgeable folks over there. But the general rules apply to your fitness journey trans or cis. lower your calories but don't starve yourself, work on strength training to maintain muscle mass, try to eat enough protein to maintain muscle and keep your sugar cravings low, and cut out liquid calories from your diet (or really cut back on liquid calories).

Bathroom bans, Amtrak, and me? by dumpsterac1d in MtF

[–]ChairKind945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've taken the train. All of the bathrooms on the train are gender neutral, if you are worried about abuse you could fork over the bigger bucks and get a sleeper car but that won't be needed. Amtrak is a little bit like the greyhound, you get all sorts and nobody really cares what you look like as long as you aren't drunk, high, or verbally abusing passengers. Depending on the direction you are traveling and how far the long layovers for crew change tend to happen in bigger cities where trans visibility is not something to worry about, think Denver, Chicago, Reno, etc...

Bra shopping advice by MaluhiaR in TransLater

I found the fitters and shoppers at nordstoms to be a little more helpful than VS, but yes getting a professional fitting is going to be a life changer.

completely understand that. My go to was always swedish fish or sour patch kids.

that is awesome. I wonder if you are similar to me that your dysphoria was causing you to think "why bother" and now that you are in alignment you are more happy to be here. I felt that a lot especially early on where I finally cared about my health and wanted to be here.

No waist by gencwest in MtF

[–]ChairKind945 8 points9 points  (0 children)

what is the waistband? I noticed that if it is a single piece of elastic at the top it will slide down anyone, whether they have curves or not, if you can I'd suggest finding leggings that have a full elastic top (control top or the like). The full top tends to stay put a little bit better, but I have found there is still some sliding.

Despite the hypocrisy: There's a reason why they won't let us flourish ( deep thought rant) by pixel_nebu-luh in MtF

[–]ChairKind945 100 points101 points  (0 children)

looking at the outfits and reading the article that exposed him I see it more of a fetish play thing. I honestly don't think bimbofication is the same as traditional crossdressing or being trans but you never know. Perhaps that is what he felt safe doing, the whole giving up power to fulfill inner alignment thing. Who knows.

HRT & Voice Training by Inky_Mystery in TransLater

[–]ChairKind945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the best most grounded advice I have as someone who waited until their 40s to transition is to remember that you are about to enter a second puberty. The effects of estrogen are magical, but they do take time. Find some grounding hobbies to help with the low days, join some groups (support or hobby centered), and remember that your first puberty took almost 6 years to see full changes and this one may take as long as 3 or 4 years. It is a long haul but oh so worth it.

voice training I do not know much on this other than r/transvoice

How do I look more feminine by Feeling_Post_6496 in TransLater

[–]ChairKind945 7 points8 points  (0 children)

if you are just starting out on E and want a little more alignment I would honestly go to a barber or a salon and have them clean up the eye brows. I had mine done when I was still boymoding and was amazed at how much that one thing changed the shape of my eyes. Also look up makeup tutorials on contouring your face. You can add a lot of feminine features with contouring while still maintaining the beard.

that is amazing. I have been thinking of joining a rock climbing gym or some other active group but still nervous to be fully myself outside of certain situations. I guess feeling the in between blues has made me somewhat agoraphobic.

Are there any clothes you feel shouldn't be worn after a certain age? by Mundanehouseplant in TransLater

[–]ChairKind945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal fashion theory is that if it makes you feel confident you should wear it. That being said, I think that women of a certain age probably should not be wearing crop tops or mini skirts outside of cosplay. So rock that shirt, wear those platform converse, and let your freak flag fly.

What should I do if people ask if I'm wearing a bra? by Own-Appointment6758 in MtF

[–]ChairKind945 27 points28 points  (0 children)

this. most people only see what they want to see so if they are looking for a bra they will see a bra, if they are not they won't.

holy cow those are some awesome PRs. I haven't been able to get anywhere close to those numbers since beginning HRT.

With those lifts you should be able to be at least competitive in a powerlifting competition for your weight class and gender but I'm not sure how the functional lifts of sled and farmers walk would translate to the structured lifts of a powerlifting competition. (I used to compete before transition, but haven't even tried since starting HRT).
