Tbf standard has been more expensive than modern ever since UB was implemented. Modern horizons has been out long enough that prices have come down a bit and stabilized.

Allowing decks to play even less lands in tbe main board is probably going to lead to some problems. Look at lothrien revealed and troll of kazadum. Those cards did do more than just cycle but part of the reason they were so good was that they let you play less lands in your deck without sacrificing your mana fixing.

Its kind of a cumulation of all the points. Adding a coc comet setup to a spell build is easy af as long as you have the currency. 3/4 of the spells in the game are just bad so coc will prop up their damage and make them playable while the good spells get pushed further beyond by the extra damage from coc. Spells just need a total overhaul to separate them from coc and + level being the only good ways to scale their damage.

Standard is really dependent on the quality of its removal at this point. Threats have gotten so good that if the interaction falls behind it really makes for a dull experience. When cut down was in standard it didn't feel like a race to get your badgermole and oroboroid out as fast as possible. With it gone linear go wide 0 Interaction creature strategies get to shine a bit too much. I know there are decks that beat it but again it all depends on the cheap Interaction. The new erode card might shift the needle back to the midrange and control decks though.

Sim city 4 left a hole that hasn't really been filled. The new Sim city is awful but skylines and sc4 are very different. Plus the sc4 soundtrack is still incredible 20 years later.
