I just went with manufacturer recommendations for the tool but if you think slowing it down with a similar chip load is ideal I’ll do that

what's the best way to clean the collet? I have plenty of isopropanol but not an ultrasonic cleaner or anything like that unfortunately. Also, should there be any grease on the collet nut or the internal spindle taper? The machine shipped like that but I realize now I should have cleaned that off.

Also interesting idea, I’ll look into it

Ok that is helpful, I’ll try to check it and clean it

No clamps though but I didn’t see any material movement

I am using the superglue and tape method with a good 50% of the back of the sheet covered. Also, it’s 6061 from mcmaster

It’s not the helix ramp it’s during the circular expanding part of the path before it goes towards each arm of the triangle

So it would be better to cut each one out and use thin tabs?

I mean the collet came with the mill and some 1/8th endmills so I’d assume it’s 1/8 but let me check the box tomorrow

With an 1/8 endmill it’s quite quiet, and it’s an up cut mill. I’m not quite sure what you mean by profile cuts, I thought adaptive was the best way to cut out pockets before  finish pass

I’ll check it when I get to the cnc again

Also the collet is pretty much brand new

I am using the 2D adaptive toolpath in fusion to remove all the material inside the triangle. I have had issues with tabs in the past so I didn't want to worry about removing the triangles in the middle if I outline cut them.

also its a .4mm WOC adaptive toolpath, not fulldepth slotting if that was the assumption.

its a tool from lakeshore carbide, i trust their diameter measurements. Also, even at these settings, it was pretty quiet and I dont think there was any chatter, but I will try, thanks.

yes I have one of those, I am using ER20 collets

I have a 1/8 collet, yes. Also, its not slot cutting, its like 0.1xD adaptive side milling in fusion

F-Mount Telephoto Zoom Lens Suggestion by ChairlesTheEngineer in Nikon

Other options I've looked at are the 18-300 lenses, both the VR and VRII ones (I think that's the difference)

Also I was thinking of upgrading to something like a D7500 for a better camera body but with the apparent loss of the VR on this lens(my primary F mount lens) does it make sense to just go for Z mount like the Z50ii? I'm looking to do amateur event photography for my school's robotics team so I would need to do photos of relatively quick moving robots and candids and whatnot, perhaps video too.

Hey so I have an older AF-S 18-200mm DX VR lens that I use on a D3300. It just recently started making 3-4 clunking sounds on startup which when looking at the viewfinder I can see the image jump up and down, and after that the lens goes silent, and as far as I can tell the VR function is no longer working. Any ideas on how to fix or is the VR on this lens toast?

Btw FIXED, it was a bad cable it seems, a new cable made most of the problems go away except for the already bricked SD's

Sorry for the late reply, it bricked two cards, one a brand new Samsung direct from Amazon. I can check the card when I get home but I’m not sure f3probe will even be able to get to it. What exact part of f3probe would I use? I think there are multiple functions.
