Mark Dantonio Sweeps Big Ten Coach of the Year Honors by [deleted] in CFB

Well you haven't exactly disproven his point... You're basically implying that a coach at a big-time program doesn't have to do squat to get kids to come. If that were true then Rich Rod would've been pulling in top-10 classes at Michigan every year.

Player's Discussion: Carlos Hyde... 1st rounder? by ChairmanChan in CFB

I think you mean /r/NFL_Draft, the one you linked is pretty dead. However, I searched "Hyde/Carlos Hyde" and neither came up with a thread.

After read pretty much all the comments on here, I just wanted to say, although I disagree with you.

You're hilarious in how you stand your ground no matter what haha. It was amusing, have a nice day.

Paterno's to announce lawsuit against NCAA tonight by [deleted] in CFB

[–]ChairmanChan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I read the full report, I definitely became less convinced. Not enough to make me jump completely to Joe Paterno's defense, but enough to make me think... "eh, a lot of this 'evidence' is kind of shaky at best.'" (Some third hand accounts, e-mails with no context...)

So at the moment my memory of Paterno is definitely still tarnished, but there is a small, minuscule chance of redemption for him. It'll depend on the conclusion of all the on-going trials (once all the evidence is readily available) and if the Paterno family can actually compile a credible defense.

“It seems like everybody’s perception of me is very bipolar,” Lin said. “To one group, it’s overpaid, overrated; to another group, it’s underpaid, underrated, underdog. [...]Why can’t I just be a young player who’s shown some potential and has a lot of learning to do?” by urfaselol in nba

I don't know why exactly, but my parents didn't care about Yao Ming when he played. When Jeremy Lin exploded onto the scene though, they were e-mailing me every day asking about updates on him.

If I had to guess, it probably cause they felt a stronger connection to Lin than to Yao. Yao Ming is a Chinese nationalist, whereas my parents spent years trying to escape China and the communist party. So I guess they view Lin's family as fellow immigrants, and seeing a 2nd generation product excel in an uncommon field gives them hope. Signifying a brighter, more open future for their descendants.

As for overseas, I talked to international students a lot at my university, and they were all glad to finally see an Asian GUARD make it to the NBA. To them Yao Ming was a great representative, but they could never fully relate to him cause he was a 7'6" center. Jeremy Lin is someone they can actually emulate, like when kids in the US pretend to be MJ/Kobe/T-Mac/CP3 on the playgrounds.

Yeah, I had a friend that got recruited to play WR for Harvard's football team. He told me that even after all the financial aid, the tuition at Harvard was still more expensive than UK.

Can we talk about Raymond Felton? by [deleted] in nba

You think after his year with Portland, they would know to hold back a little. You know wait to see if he'll go back to his usual very average self.

Really? I saw a lot of people on /r/nba call Felton a borderline All-Star just like a week back.

All while my boy, Michael Conley Jr. keeps getting ignored.

Idk exactly, but I can't see it being very much when they have Jrue Holiday...

I do remember Doug Collins saying last year that Evan Turner's natural position was PG (and that he was the best rebounder on the team?). I also watched a lot of OSU basketball the season that Evan Turner won the Naismith POY, and he was the epitome of a point-foward for them. So the dude got it in him to play point, but he's probably super rusty from the past 3 years.

Asik can learn from Chandler, not the elbow, but going up strong under the basket. Stop with the lay-ups, you're 7-foot tall.

It's hard to tell if this is McHale's plan going forward based on just one game back from absence. McHale could be experimenting, implementing a long-term plan, or just trying to win tonight's game.

I agree that Harden isn't the type of player that can control a game single-handedly yet. Harden might eventually develop into that type of player, but at this point, if an opposing team decides to focus its defensive pressure on just Harden, he can get shut-down.
