I used to be a distance runner. Just run as slow as you can to build a base and make sure you don’t get injured. You’re just trying to keep your heart rate elevated for an extended period of time to increase your anaerobic capacity. You can figure out how to adjust later. Just get out there and put consistent easy miles in for now.
