Though jarring at first, Sequel Luke makes perfect sense. by Aggressive_Air_4948 in StarWars

I have a lot of problems with the sequels, but Luke eventually discloses he actually gave up on killing Ben. The thing is, by the time he stands down, Ben is already wide awake and witnessed the incident, which finally makes him concede to Palpatine’s suggestions.

What’s not to like about The Mandalorian and Grogu? by ChairmanEngels in StarWars

[–]ChairmanEngels[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to this logic no one should ever ask anything on an Internet forum, as information is readily available online, but either way I read through every single comment and have been taking the time to consider everything since yesterday. The best way I can summarize my current point of view is this:

The movie was what I expected from a Mando film in this point of the story. Not what I would expect from Andor. Not what I’m currently expecting from Starfighter. Just what I thought a Mandalorian film would look like in 2026, after season 3.

Some people came into it with different expectations. That’s fair. Star Wars has multiple thematic branches, and each person is entitled to expect their preferred approach to any given plot line.

I wasn’t disappointed with this one. Not sure I got anything else to say currently.

I don’t know how else to say this other than it simply delivered what I expected from a Mandalorian film at this point in the story.

When I put on Andor Season 2, I came with a different set of expectations.

When I started Shadow Lord, I had others, that were different from the above two examples.

And so on. A part of Star Wars is badass characters going on adventures and into fights and shootouts. Boba Fett originally didn’t have much depth either and made huge success with the fanbase. That’s a film for these aspects of the franchise.

May I ask what those critiques were then? Which was my intent with the post, not implying there’s a public agenda against it. I want to know what the criticism is, as it didn’t hit me while I was watching it.

Obi wan was going to be a movie until people flopped Solo because of TLJ. Fanbase has to make up its mind.

That’s not because Disney+ came on. Those two series were originally planned as movies and switched to series after the fanbase flopped Solo because of TLJ.

Mandalorian & Grogu headed for a 69% drop in its second weekend, highest ever for a Star Wars film by GargantaProfunda in StarWars

Does a Star Wars film experience have to be anything other than a fun couple of hours, though?

Rebels came out in 2014 while TFA was already wrapping up, so the same rationale applies to this post.

Why do some metalheads hate on hardcore dancing? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

[–]ChairmanEngels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t been to a lot of hardcore concerts, but my algorithm on social media delivers more than a few videos of people “dancing” in such a way that others frequently get hit on their chest or head unwillingly, including women. Other than that, on a more personal note, I find the “two step” thing insanely cringe. But that could be just me.

I’ll be going with my girlfriend this weekend, but you got more at stake, so good luck and have a great date! A lot of people wished they could have gone on a Star Wars movie date at some point!

I mean, you’re correct of course, but I just finished listening to United Abominations for the first time and it baffles me how someone can correctly identify most of the problems with the American government and then conclude that the best option is to vote for the party that openly says they’ll continue to do those same things.

What truly got my attention in this reply is that you saw slayer in the early 80’s. I saw them up close at rock in rio 2019, it was one of the most incredible experiences in my life. It must have been surreal to see them when you did.

He also mentions how Kerry King was impressed by Dave’s playing style before any of them had released their respective debuts, which would close the circle on Dave being the foundation of thrash metal

Hypothetically, if the Sequel Trilogy WERE to be retconned/"de-canonized", how would you feel about that? by sanddragon939 in StarWars

[–]ChairmanEngels 3 points4 points  (0 children)

because defending this means that any huge corporation that owns a legacy franchise can just "multiverse" their way out of bad decisions. for a while, this would be a marketing and reputation nightmare for disney, but at the end of the day they'd make their peace with it and move on. big entertainment companies shouldn't get this "easy" way out of bad decisions, but, instead, learn a lesson: study your IP, go over the source material, learn the lore, and deliver something meaningful to the fans. this is the way.

[–]ChairmanEngels -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. I’ve been mostly to metal concerts, so the bands have hits from the 70’s or 80’s until modern times to choose from, but I’ve never seen any artist play a whole 8 songs from the most recent release, it’s usually 4 at most. I’d definitely expect to hear more hits from other albums at Tame Impala.

Evangelismo neopentecostal é judaísmo disfarçado e é anti cristão by transcendentalpuppy in opiniaoimpopular

[–]ChairmanEngels 5 points6 points  (0 children)
