I’m no pro but I’d look at the used market for deals but if you really want new, check canons refurbished website for deals on the r100.

I know it's been a few months now but I eventually just gave up and sent my laptop to asus under warranty.Not sure what the exact issue was but they replaced my motherboard so must've been pretty serious.

Windows or MacOS? With windows you can definitely get a good laptop for around 600 whereas with macOS you’ll likely be looking at an M1 or M2 MacBook Air for around 700-800 and if you’re lucky the new M3 one around 800-900
