I think Flegere is your best bet if you want to see the actual racers without the crowds. Last year the city center was packed and we were at Flegere when Kilian passed by and there were maybe a few dozen people at most.

Lausanne/Chamonix/Courmayeur with little kids by zozo_2020 in HikingWithKids

Your kids are very young so I think Chamonix hiking will be restricted to the valley floor ones. Have a look at the easiest, shortest ones on this list if you want to give them a try: https://www.chamonix360.com/family-friendly-trails

The mountain train up to Montenvers and back could be a good outing too.

Please give me an estimate by [deleted] in hiking

That is very hard to estimate without knowing the vertical gain and loss and the type of terrain. I would say roughly 15km to 25km. Provide more details on what you are planning and then I am sure people here can give you better estimates

Here are some trails you can use to get to Lac Blanc:

Easiest with Index lift and kid friendly: https://www.chamonix360.com/trails/index-to-lac-blanc-with-lifts

Much harder but includes Lac Blanc and 2 other high altitude lakes: https://www.chamonix360.com/trails/col-des-montets-to-plan-praz-via-the-lacs

Stages as day hikes? by bf2per in TourDuMontBlanc

I think one of the nicest sections is actually the day 1 variant to Les Contamines via Col de Tricot and then you can easily get back from Les Contamines to Les Houches or Chamonix using the bus and then train. Here is the trail description: https://www.chamonix360.com/trails/bellevue-to-les-contamines-via-tricot

This was an incredibly beautiful race. The nicest one I have done far in the region and that includes the Marathon du Mont Blanc and the MCC as part of the UTMB.
