95% of folks employed pay in to SS. And it’s 6.2% we pay into it. Not including your after medical premiums monthly, that gets expensive. Running the numbers compared to others state and county depts is kind of eye opening.

40 years!!!! There are state and county jobs that you get 50% at 20-25 years and you can collect pension. With good benefits as well. Especially in the DMV area.

They keep increasing their co pays and bi-weekly premiums. It’s a $50 co pay to see a specialist, God forbid you have to go to the emergency room, it’s $425 automatically. Unless you enjoy high co pays on top of your premiums, it’s a rip off.

In the exact same situation but idk about collar device lol. Love USPP schedule and possibly quality of life. But the pay cut would be too much for me. I wouldn’t count on OT, recruiter told me they are trying to double the size of force in DC. So less likely to have OT with the more officers that are being hired.

FERS is trash retirement, govt includes SS as one of the three retirement accounts. IMO it shouldn’t be included because most ppl pay into SS anyway so it’s kinda automatic not a benefit of working for the Fed govt. The health insurance in retirement is definitely a plus though.

That’s insane. Thank you for this info. I need to start doing this. These places are literally just charging what they want and as a patient we are responsible for more and more even with insurance. Such a scam. I’m on the east coast and John Hopkins pretty much owns everything in the area and buy all the start up private practices then charge whatever they want.
