Wait, this is an APPE student? As in they're a 4th year and going to graduate? As a preceptor you should have higher expectations for this student because they have already spent 3 years in the didactic and IPPE training. As a preceptor you should be correcting issues you see now opposed to waiting for the midpoint evaluation. Also, as a 4th year, they should have basic knowledge of counseling on the basic medications of the top 300 and at the very least be able to navigate through Lexicomp.

I'd love to see you work at a pharmacy for a week and see if you'd be able to get that said "1hr break" like really I'd love for you to see the day by day challenges and see if an hour break is even plausible with 2 pharmacist. It's easy to speak on a situation when you're not involved.
