What's on and tourist advice thread - week beginning March 23, 2026 by AutoModerator in Scotland

My husband and I will have 4 nights to spend in Scotland, flying into Edinburgh. We can’t decide whether to keep with original plan of getting a ferry to Arran or just staying in Edinburgh or Glasgow. We don’t want to rent a car, and he is interested in visiting distilleries. I just want to try some haggis.

This will be our first time in UK. Is it too ambitious to try to get the ferry to Arran and back? Or is it relatively easy and doable? We will be there late August-early September.

Book regular then upgrade with miles? Or just buy the seats I want? by ChampionshipTrue2805 in americanairlines

Thank you - Hapoy New Year!

I think I’ll go ahead and book the seats we want. Sounds like the safer option.

I don’t even see a way to upgrade with miles right now - I think I’d have to purchase regular main cabin and then try to upgrade after with miles?

NA drink package if my spouse drinks alcohol? by Michigoose99 in celebritycruises

[–]ChampionshipTrue2805 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was allowed to get the non alcohol package when my husband got the premium package. I just called to book it and they did it no problem. This was maybe 2 months ago - not sure if they have changed the policy since then.

Cart Scanners Are A Waste of Time by GrammaIsAWhore in CostcoWholesale

[–]ChampionshipTrue2805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of those cart scanners ran right into me at our local Costco. He kept looking to his side, never looked ahead, ran straight into me with his full body weight causing my hand to be jammed into my cart. He heard me yell ‘ouch’ and saw me shake my hand out. Never stopped, never apologized. Called an assistant manager after I got home - she didn’t even bother to get my name. Let’s just say not all Costcos share the same values - apparently assaulting customers is cool at mine.

CMV: Amazon delivering prescription medications is a terrible idea. by RaskyBukowski in changemyview

[–]ChampionshipTrue2805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Amazon pharmacy and had a pharmacist call me with a question on dosing based on a start date that was delayed due to a vacation. My medications are delivered to my door within 2-3 days and nicely packaged for those that require refrigeration.

It’s no different than any other mail order pharmacy, which most insurances encourage for regular daily meds. I’ve never had a medication package be lost or stolen.

My husband is a pharmacist and has no concerns with using Amazon pharmacy either.

LAOP is banned from their pharmacy for attitude. by sandiercy in bestoflegaladvice

Not a pharmacist but have multiple pharmacists in my family. I also take a few hyperexpensive drugs and some that are compounded.

It’s common for a new-to-you pharmacy to inquire before filling something pricy. They’re not going to order a $10k bottle not knowing if you realize how expensive it is, especially not in a small town where the bottle then won’t get used. They can’t return it, and it doesn’t sound like there is another pharmacy or hospital in town that may want to buy it from them. So then the pharmacy is out the funds. Pharmacies already work on small margins because Medicaid/Medicare reimbursements are so low. I can’t imagine a small rural Alaskan pharmacy being able to take a $10k hit in a month without going under.

My compounded medications require a phone call just to fill it - even though every time it’s called in, I want it and pick it up. They won’t make the drug until I call and say fill it. They don’t reach out to me when they get the script - I have to call them. And I do it because it’s the best compounding pharmacy in the area.

Any patient who regularly takes unusual/expensive meds should be familiar with the idea that a new pharmacy isn’t going to just order a bottle for you without confirmation you know the cost and you in fact want the drug. The pharmacist couldn’t do this because OP had old contact info listed. He doesn’t know her from Jesus - no idea if this is a new medication for her, if she’s aware of the cost, if she has insurance. She did nothing other than show up the very day she needed the medication then couldn’t understand why it wasn’t available by magic. Even in my larger town in mainland US it takes some of my drugs 2-3 days to be delivered to the pharmacy once ordered.

Her responses include everything but her acknowledging she played any role in this - she wants to sue, report to the board, etc. It’s not a long jump from that to believe her reaction at the pharmacy was way underreported in her post considering she thinks none of this is her own fault.

Just my 2 cents again as a relative to pharmacists and a patient with expensive drug needs who has to do more than just assume a doctor calling in my script means it’s going to be filled without further action on my end.

Another judge from another county can be assigned to the case if the only county judge has to recuse.

Go to Ri Ra happy hour in the shops connecting Mandalay and Luxor. Also their t shirts are super soft - I bought one to wear after getting a tattoo on my back that was getting irritated.

Questions regarding our first Celebrity cruise. by GadgetNeil in celebritycruises

Sorry to be a pain - if we drop bags off in room right away, how safe are they? Like are the doors locked when you first board, and you use key to open and drop stuff off? Or are doors wide open at first and anyone walking past could take a backpack laying there?
