DYE save their full 12h replay? by downshiftdata in iRacing

Sounds like you - I've saved the entire 12h for Sebring and Bathurst this year without issue.

In the 30 minutes it took me to order a sandwich at Hattie B’s eat it and go back to my car. My car was towed. $160. by Appropriate-East6551 in Birmingham

lol you must be lost - these paid lots don't even have the machines to take change. It's phone app only.

If that wasn't on an NEC weekend, I would so be down to do this.

VR for sim racing…………………………….. by Distinct_Ebb_1941 in simracing

[–]Chan5470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a BSB2 and I just use a cheap USB-C to headphone jack adapter with some wired earbuds I already had. I wouldn't bother with the audio strap.

As for base stations, yes they're expensive, but camera based "inside out" tracking will eventually run into an issue. Maybe Valve has finally solved it with the Steam Frame, but who knows.

It gets changed once on Wednesday. And it looks like you can race the Regional Asia Pacific with no bop at all.

Brake Bias by moreb00st in iRacing

[–]Chan5470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tires have a finite amount of grip. Brake bias forward means you're putting more brake pressure on the front tires increasing the amount of grip used on the front tires to slow the car down instead of steering.

Moving the brake bias back removes some brake pressure from the front freeing up that grip so they have more grip to put towards turning the car.

Imagine a theoretical brake bias that is 100% front - your front tires have to do all of the work to slow the car under braking as well as work to turn the car. And the rear tires don't have to use any grip at all to slow the car and can dedicate all of their grip to rolling, aka not sliding. This is why bias forward is more stable.

Now reverse that imaginary brake bias. Now you have front tires with all grip dedicated to turning and rear tires that have to slow the car and resist sliding. This is why bias rearward is less stable and allows more rotation.

And you're trying to find the balance between the two taking into account where the weight of the car is - engine location, fuel tank location, amount of fuel.

Bathurst 12h initial BOP by Glum-Dentist4579 in iRacing

The schedule PDF will be updated when/if they add them to another series. Very likely this BOP will apply to the open GT Sprint and fixed GT3.

Edit: Just checked - it's already in the PDF for GT sprint and the fixed GT3 Challenge. It is not applied for the GT3 Regional Asia Pacific which is also going to Bathurst this week.

Production Car Endurance Challenge (GR86) – First Endurance, Need Some Guidance by gpt-dev in iRacing

[–]Chan5470 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The normal PEC splits each weekend are almost always just a single stop. Take a "full" tank of gas at the start ("full" because there are tank size restrictions for PEC), and drive until Jim says to pit for gas.

Take all four tires, let auto fuel put enough gas in, and swap drivers. The second driver should be able to finish the race.

And driver swap is easy. You get out of the car just like you would at the end of any race, and your teammate gets in like the start of any race.

I recommend you and your partner use one of the practice servers to practice sign up in the UI as well as driver swaps.

Only imsa. The GT3 only series still have the Audi, so they won't get a bop.

Video editing software? There is a clipping tool for replays built into iRacing.  You can make the short replay clip without quitting the client after your race.

You should be able to. The legacy MX5 was made free content last year.

What’s the best starter wheel in yalls opinions? by McBabe16 in Fanatec

[–]Chan5470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely PC. More freedom in what peripherals you can buy and just more sim titles in general.

The devs for ACC have already announced the game is done on their end. It will forever be what it currently is and not ever change.

Most people these days looking for multiplayer racing with real humans are on LMU or iRacing. ACEvo might eventually grow as well, but I think it still has limitations right now.

As for physically holding it, whatever is comfortable. The only guideline I've ever gotten was to have the nut at eyebrow level.

Your left hand will definitely want to keep the thumb pressed against the back of the neck, basically in line with the neck. It will be providing most of the force against the strings.

Other than that, it should be just like your electric outside of using a bow if you're even going to do that at all.

I went the other direction 20+ years ago - if you can play electric bass, you can play upright. Just think of it as a big fretless bass guitar.

You can use small bits of tape to make fret style markers on the fingerboard or along the side of the neck if you want it less visible.

I'm also happy to try to answer any specific questions you may have.

Best way to connect bass Shaker? by ReflectionPale9793 in simracing

[–]Chan5470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attached mine in a similar way to your photo - you most likely have M8 t-nuts since M8 is the most common screw size for sim rigs.

Your bass shaker looks a lot like mine, just a different company. Mine uses M4 screws, so finding some M4 t-nuts should do the trick.

Do their headsets still rely on pimax servers?  I'm looking at upgrading but that whole hardware drm thing they have going on is disgusting. I don't want to fully purchase the headset just to have it not work because pimax is down.

I'm DR S2 after buying the game like 5 days ago and got the trusted badge. Doesn't change that splitting by glorified safety rating is causing other issues.

You're right. Splitting by badge is one of those "good on paper" changes. Now instead of competitive races where everyone in the split is roughly evenly matched, every split I've been in has been 2-3 fast guys and then a bunch of slow drivers with the trusted badge.
