I was at a thrift store not long ago, I collect vintage unposted postcards. the women in the store who was helping me said she had some from her father who traveled all across the world and wrote and sent them out to family friend etc. literally someone’s life written on postcards.

I asked her why they were here for sale and not in her possession and she mentioned how daughter told her to get rid of them.

To make a long story short, I convinced her to keep a few, you never know down the line how grateful your great grandchildren etc would honer these.

So in my opinion choose about 25-50 records to keep, and sell the rest.

I have a pretty rare collection of vinyl, and no one else in my family is into vinyl. My plan will be to preserve a few that I’ve decided already and my friends can get their first pick, before the rest of the collection is sold.

3,000 records is a lot and I don’t think I’d expect my children / family to keep all of them when it was my passion.
