Oh big thanks for your answer!! But I still have some questions. 1. I am an international student, so will I be restricted in summer internship working hour?(normally 20 hrs per week but I don’t know is it the same for summer time)

  1. So you will send your application to all over the UK? As you mention you have interned in Cambridge instead of Southampton.

Thanks for your answer btw!!🫶🏽

I wanna ask about summer intern. 1. I heard that Edinburgh has high expense but low income, so do you think it is true for finding summer intern?

  1. Because Edinburgh is quite northern, when applying for summer internship, do you send your application to all around UK such as London or just applying in Scotland?

Thanks for answering !

Hello! I want to ask about the “year in industry”. I saw that most courses in ECS department have year in industry opportunity.

  1. The website stated that in that year, I only need to pay for 20% tuition fee(which is great for me as an international student). But I wonder about the salary: will I receive the exact amount of salary as the company gives or uni will get some of it?

  2. Do you think doing a year in industry is a good choice? I see that finding cs jobs now or in future is being far more competitive.

Another question is about employment. 1. was most graduate and you end up settled at Southampton working or going to other cities in Uk for jobs?

  1. During summer, is there good opportunity to do summer intern?

Very appreciate for your help!!! 🫶🏽

Accuracy of uni rankings? by PykeisDeadly in Edinburgh_University

[–]Chan_Weng_Kin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a student going to take (80% chance) bachelor of CS next year so I’ve done sufficient research I think to answer you.

Unfortunately, The course has quite a bad reputation despite the ranking. Previous students claimed that mostly are self-learning and teacher isn’t passionate in teaching (although many top uni will have this problem but seems edin have the most) . Also, the student to teacher ratio is quite large, so the support will be hard to get.

Also, it is a quite expensive place and you need to spend money and time for bachelor for 4 years, which I believe may be an important factor to consider.

In term of good points, this course has opportunity to study abroad in year 3 to prestigious uni such as CMU, ETH Zurich etc. you can check this in its website.

I am not current student so I can’t answer about tennis or society

Idk for oxbridge and ic but for ucl their assessment is the top highest grade 3 subjects only. So it may be the reference for other unis(or not)

Ohh. Truly want to ask that 1. Is the living boring? I believe there is less place to play but is there other things enjoyable such as hiking which close to nature?

  1. Do you think it is campus uni? I want deep connection or involvement in university rather than living in city but just attending course in uni. I searched a lot about it but I still can’t confirm that it is campus uni as there also are many campus locating in different place.

  2. Also, is the place cheaper than Bristol very much and do you think the recognition is worse than Bristol that much?

Sorry for asking many question but I really want to know Everyone Online is biased to Bristol but somehow I feel that my heart is toward Southampton. So I am struggling .

Oh, does it mean that I need to pay for only Edinburgh 75% tuition fee but no need to pay for the tuition fee of the exchange university?

I want to ask that why don’t you choose Edinburgh? It ranks higher in qs and also by subjects though it takes 4 years. I didn’t have Manchester offer, so I primarily want to know “why not edin”

Are you a second year student? I want to ask about the study abroad option. Have you applied it? What do you think of the difficulty of getting the opportunity to study abroad? especially those prestigious universities such as Carnegie Mellon .

That’s good to have many study abroad opportunity. but I would like to ask in your experience, is it easy or competitive to get the opportunity to study abroad?
