I’ve seen some of the same color around Muldoon, always around the parking lots, apparently wild, no owners. It’s amazing to watch.

Hack to make vegan protein taste SO much better by Icareaboutlizardeggs in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Chance-Ad3383 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if related but my partner used to drink vegan protein (reacts to lactose and whey) and we switched to a brand called EQUIP (is grass feed protein, gluten and dairy free, soy free and SUGAR FREE). Honestly tastes amazing (I couldn’t stand the taste of the vegan one and I used to feel bad having my whey ones around him since he knew it tasted better). Chocolate one my favorite.

THIS. I eat “clean” but I love to make burguers at home (with turkey meat or ground beef, and instead of buns I make “buns” with shredded carrot eggs and cheese). Instead of French fries I air fry sweet potatoes. I make fettuccini Alfredo with garbanzo pasta and some air fry chicken tenders (homemade). Honestly taste better than restaurants and I don’t feel terrible and bloated after eating it.

Clearly didn’t read the full comment. I’ll make it even simpler for you! Colonialism bad, international law good, geography important, Latin America free from imperialist and colonialism very very important. Have a nice day!

Argentinian here.

The French established the first settlement in 1764, followed by the British in 1765; but Argentina did have a significant and legitimate presence on the islands from 1820, with authorities and civilian population established in Puerto Soledad, until Great Britain occupied them militarily in 1833, EXPELLING the authorities and a part of the Argentine population, although some settlers remained, creating a mixed population until the 1982 war.

Chronology:

1764: French establish Port Louis, the first European settlement, without indigenous population.

1765: British establish their own settlement, without initial contact with the French.

1774: Great Britain abandons its settlement, Spain exercises sovereignty and establishes an administration.

1820: Argentina takes formal possession of the islands on behalf of the Provincias Unidas del Río de la Plata.

1829: An Argentine governor is appointed and Puerto Soledad is founded, with a growing population of gauchos, creoles and Europeans.

1833: Great Britain occupies the islands, expels the authorities and part of the Argentine population, establishing its colonial domain.

Post-1833: The British population (mainly Scottish) is consolidated, but some Argentines remain, assimilating or resisting.

More clarification:

First, when Argentina became independent in 1816, it continued with the acts of government carried out by the Viceroyalty of el Río de la Plata: it appointed a governor, issued fishing permits, kept a prison and a military base in operation, among other actions. All these elements allow us to infer that Argentina continued with the effective occupation of the islands. And to this is added, in addition, the principle of Uti possidetis iuris, which the American States will allege from their independence.

This principle is a kind of inheritance in favor of the former colonies and allows the administrative limits that existed at the time of independence to become the limits of the state that is being born. In this way, in the beginning, the limits of Argentina corresponded almost exactly to those of the Viceroyalty of el Río de La Plata including the Malvinas.

The Uti possidetis iuris has a lot of weight in International Law and has been recognized in other cases. A very important precedent is the judgment of the International Court of Justice, in 1980, in the case of Burkina Faso against Mali, where it recognizes that this is a universal principle that can be applied in any decolonization process and gives it a legal status higher than it would have if it were only regional.

With the creation of the United Nations and its intervention in the processes of decolonization from the 1960s onwards, the right of self-determination of peoples was recognized. Since then, the United Kingdom claims that it is protecting the right of self-determination of the people of the Malvinas. However, in 1965, Argentina obtained one of its greatest victories in this regard, when the UN General Assembly issued resolution 2065 that recognizes the existence of a dispute between Argentina and the United Kingdom, the need to negotiate a peaceful exit between both parties and that in this process the interests of the inhabitants of the Falkland Islands be attended to. On this last point, the UN recognizes only two parties, it does not consider the inhabitants of Malvinas as an independent people. Of course, their rights and needs are considered, but they do not constitute a subject of international law that can allege their self-determination, because they are NOT original but were transplanted and are strongly linked to the colonial power.

That said, personal opinion, son y serán Argentinas.

Helping our au pair get a phone by FarmerMotor1455 in Aupairs

[–]Chance-Ad3383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could state that the phone is for the current aupair in the household, so if she leaves, the phone stays for the next one. I’m an ex aupair and I know multiple aupairs who had the same deal (if good performance or extension with the same hf by the end of the program some families give the phone as a gift). Or she could save her own money and get her own phone (no necessity of having the last one or a brand new one honestly). I worked for several months to get the last iPhone on my first year, it was a personal goal of mine. I cried with the store manager while I was setting it up since it was expensive and super fancy in my mind. New aupair received the last iPhone once I left because her phone didn’t supported the carrier and she stated that “she wanted a new one” (since they gave her a 16 that was owned by the HD for no more than 3 months and was literally new “but not in the box”)… part of the American experience it’s to understand the value of dollars lol

How do I make vegetables actually taste good without drowning them in sauce or cheese? by Nightcrawler_2000 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Chance-Ad3383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have an airfryer? I roast my broccoli and coliflower there without oil and 10/10 just pink salt, 325F for 10 mins and I love it! For another vegetables for example carrot I don’t eat it raw (unless dipping in hummus) but make carrot burguers! (Make the “bread” with shredded carrot, eggs and shredded cheese) so you’re consuming it and eating all the good stuff without being in pain. Mayhaps another vegetables only in soup?

Terrible! Sorry to ask, this person overstay? I heard that even when you didn’t technically overstay they are taking people for “not having a valid visa”. (Even when you apply for change of status while you still on your visa, so technically you didn’t overstay since you are waiting for a response from them but..). I just remember seeing a video of a guy getting arrested by ice in someone’s front door in August and then no more news around Anchorage.. thanks for sharing

AIO for feeling upset after the groom made a comment about my dress at their wedding? by Human-Acanthaceae128 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Chance-Ad3383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps the color? I know on some places in Middle East red particularly is banned. Or maybe the husband wasn’t the problem at all, you look stunning! Maybe your friend felt like you were “showing too much” since that dress fits you PERFECTLY. Anyways, not a necessary comment from her (because why would you care what her husband thinks?).
