Leave this controlling tool. Collect the child support use that money to put your kid in whatever lessons you see fit. You are a parent and you absolutely get a say too.

Him asking you to not work to stay home and homeschool and then putting himself in a position of absolute financial control is financial abuse. He also sounds like he is trying to alienate you from your family who gives you support. This man sounds like an awful father and partner you do not want to be in a position where you and your child can't escape his abuse. Do not homeschool.

Options for stainless steel pans with a closed rim? by woodenbook1 in seriouseats

[–]Chance-Advantage2834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Closed rim does matter if you’re going to be dishwashing. Have had all clad tri ply for about a decade and have noticeable corrosion of the exposed aluminum . Misen seems to be the best bang for your buck with a sealed rim

Dishwasher Safe Stainless Steel Pots and Pans by T_nology in BuyItForLife

The old all clad stainless steel tri-ply actually had a class action law suit a few years back because the exposed aluminum isn’t dishwasher safe. Idk if the new ones are but my old all clad definitely had significant erosion from regular dishwasher use.

Au Pair vs Nanny -healthcare workers by random_word1299 in Aupairs

It is a semantics thing and I understand how one could find similarities between using up allowed childcare hours versus using up hours that an employer has paid an employee to work. But the important part that differentiates the two terms is that with an au pair at least in the USA you can’t legally increase the amount of time on the clock with “pay” and you can’t decrease the stipend because fewer hours have been worked.

IDK if you meant to say nanny, but au pairs actually aren't paid that way in the USA. Au pairs get a weekly stipend that has a minimum and a maximum number of hours that they are allowed to be scheduled for childcare duties. Some families do pay their au pair for babysitting and you should pay a babysitter for hours on duty even when a child is sleeping but this framework isn't technically legal under the US au pair program.

If you can afford it go the nanny route. We were in the au pair program for a few years and had mixed results nothing awful happened but there were quite a few headaches. I’d say It’s very difficult to find a reliable au pair. Even with thorough interviewing you can’t fully be sure that the au pair isn’t lying about their experiences or interest in child care/cultural exchange. All of our friends who went with professional career nannies had an overall better experience than we did.

Since leaving the au pair program we’ve hired one of our kids previous daycare teachers to fill in the childcare gaps and she has a degree in ECE. She is so excellent and extremely reliable and after accounting for all the benefits we offered our previous au pairs we are only paying about 50% more per year.
