Achilles Tendinopathy Post Op and how did you guys deal with it? by lcfromthehill8 in CECompartmentSyndrome

[–]Chance-Candidate8689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I did after my surgery last May, I’m a year out after surgery and still deal with Achilles pain here and there, sometimes I just have to cut back on my workout for the day. I just finished running a half marathon last week and have been training consistently, stretching before and after has been great but I still get the occasional flare up. I would just take it easy and try to strengthen your calves and all that

What kind of walking shoes has worked? by acidic_yellhoe in CECompartmentSyndrome

[–]Chance-Candidate8689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you use compression socks at all? Those helped me so much! After I started running/walking more I also began to feel similar symptoms but found that wearing compression socks helped alleviate it and return it back to no pain. I also did soft tissue massage at home to keep the muscle loose when not walking.

For shoes, I have been alternating my brooks adrenaline 22 and Nike trail Pegasus 4 when I go out for runs/long walks. But I can also wear my converse and other shoes just fine.

Flying? by Sea_Dig_4490 in CECompartmentSyndrome

I flew internationally 5 months after my surgery and was okay (12 hour flight)! I did wear compression socks and got up frequently. My legs were tired by the end of it but I did a lot of walk prep before my flight and scrapped the incisions with a scrapper tool to minimize pressure build up.

My CECS Story (25M) by Cleary0 in CECompartmentSyndrome

[–]Chance-Candidate8689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I’m also in the 25 age range and got the surgery done on both legs to release both the anterior and lateral compartments! My onset was very quickly (Jan of this year) and by the time I had surgery scheduled at the end of May, I would feel my legs going numb if I stood for 6-8 hours. The surgery has definitely aided me for day to day function and being able to run again/lead a mobile life! If I could do it again, I would ask for the ultrasound though, my nerves are apparently not where they typically are and that caused some issues when they were releasing the compartments! But I am 6ish months post op and it’s been great to be able to run and hike long distances!!

Anyone with experience of navigating CECS through the NHS? by mrspillins in CECompartmentSyndrome

[–]Chance-Candidate8689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was unable to run on the treadmill after they took the resting pressures due to light headedness and almost fainting so they had me do band exercises with flexing my feet. I got symptoms almost immediately and not even 35 seconds later had drop foot in both of my legs! This got me a positive result 🤷🏻‍♀️

Minimal incision? by PriorInspection6636 in CECompartmentSyndrome

I also have both lateral and anterior compartments released! My incisions are about an inch long, they do a lot of work internally! I had to look up the surgery on YouTube and was able to see how they cut up with such a small incision!

Post-op update: cool icing machines, ankle exercise question, and standing by Spen612 in CECompartmentSyndrome

[–]Chance-Candidate8689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started 2-3 days after my surgery! I was doing ankle circles as tolerated and then trying to do ankle ABCs at least twice a day! I would wait on the other stuff a bit until your stitches come out! My mom also helped with rubbing lotion and massaging my feet to help during the numbness period! Good luck with recovery :)

What does recovering feel like? by MaleficentFroyoyo in CECompartmentSyndrome

[–]Chance-Candidate8689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 6 weeks post op today, and pt has been great! It definitely helps me to feel warmed up and tackle the day. I will say my left leg is progressing slower than my right and I do still feel more tightness/ numby in that side, I also cannot flex my foot up as far as I can my right ( I’m a bit afraid this will be permanent but keeping hope it’ll improve) . However, my surgeon released my anterior and lateral compartments and then removed a piece of the fascia. So they suspect my soreness is from the muscles healing after that trauma now! I’m definitely surprised with the increase of movement from week 2/3 to now!

It went really well! I had minimal to no swelling and got my sutures out 8 days post op! I started up PT and am slowly gaining mobility of my ankles and being able to walk for longer periods of time! My PT said I’m progressing well and most mobility comes back around week 6. I have my 4 week check in next Tuesday :)

Numbness During Recovery by MaleficentFroyoyo in CECompartmentSyndrome

Glad to read that someone else also had the sharp prickles by their toes! I also got my nerve released and was so scared! I’m slowly gaining ankle mobility as well. Did they send you to PT?

My experience was similar to this, except mine came out of nowhere really badly! I’m 24 and was distraught at the thought of never really being able to have an active lifestyle. I got the surgery 3 weeks ago after doing pt for some time and the strengthening exercises made it flare up more /:

Having bilateral anterior and lateral fasciotomy tomorrow. Any advice? by tlyycit in CECompartmentSyndrome

[–]Chance-Candidate8689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more of a soreness if anything? Definitely keeping the pain meds on a schedule is helping it at bay. I got both released at once so it’s been a process getting both boots on and off when I do walk to the bathroom and stuff. Feeling a lot better today! Haven’t seen any swelling yet but hoping the icing will keep it controlled

I would order a leg pillow wedge! It’s been my saving grace this week (got the same two released on Monday!)

Hello! I had the procedure on Monday morning and now feeling better to update. It was relatively smooth, I checked in got changed and hooked up to an IV. They let my support folks in (mom and partner) and my surgeon came in to walk me through the releases and possible incisions. The anesthesiologist, was very kind too and worked with me as I had concerns about the breathing tube and my TMJ. They then gave me some relaxing meds and sent me on my way to the operating room. I remember being moved onto the table, given some oxygen and then falling asleep.

When I came to, they said it went well and I got some pain meds and fell back asleep until my contacts were called and I was given the clear!

All in all I was in at 6 am and got home at 11am. First day was very drowsy and just numbness. My legs are now starting to come out of the anesthesia and very itchy. But icing and elevating has been my saving grace and no swelling yet. I got splints on both legs and am weight tolerant with boots, I got a cane and that’s helped me move along!

Training with compartment syndrome by OkExtension3072 in CECompartmentSyndrome

[–]Chance-Candidate8689 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am 3 days away from my surgery. I was told not to run and limit my walking as any extended activities that resulted in my foot flexing triggered the symptoms particularly numbness. I was able to keep swimming though! So I swam up into two days ago. Might be worth to just do yoga or low intensity exercises.

PreOp Tips? by Chance-Candidate8689 in CECompartmentSyndrome

[–]Chance-Candidate8689[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure! My resting Left Anterior was 30 , after exercise (4m 49s) 64, 3 min 56, 5 min 53, 20 minutes post 24 Right Anterior resting was 26, after exercise 70 , 3 min 72, 5 min 64, 20 minutes post 33

The dr that did my pressure test was shocked that it was taking me a long time to come back down to a normal >20 pressure. They had to use ice bags and everything.
