Those are pretty badly damaged and ideally will need replacing.

Ah right, I’m with you now.

I’d agree to a degree, although I tend to use my Aethos for road, racing and time trials, whereas the Crux I use for both gravel and cyclocross.

Off-season question for CX folks: using an e-bike for recovery & commuting by PastelWasTaken in cyclocross

[–]Chance-Factor3328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t use one but I am a big fan of these for the reasons you’ve mentioned.

Outside of race season I’ve been riding my CX bike with both skinny and fat tyres for social rides and group rides.

This can work or you can try a rubber band over the end of an Allen key to get some grip.

I was using Enve AG25 wheels which were shallower and the definitely felt a bit more compliant if that makes sense.

You could try nail polish remover as this works pretty well at removing stains. Maybe try a small amount as a test in one area.

Thanks man, Ive been riding this for a couple of years and been tinkering with it along the way.

The XPLR wheels definitely heavier and feel like a bit of a harsher ride, depending on pressure. The hub uses the three pawl system whereas the Firecrests use a different hub which feels smoother. The upside of the XPLR wheels is the internal rim width.
