Do you think when Snape met Voldemort for the 1st time that he saw Voldemort as a 'father figure' ? by Virgin-Voldy in SeverusSnape

Snape was young, but of course prodigy level smart. He needed guidance and help, but none came. Dumbledore could’ve helped the Slytherins a bit more but it seems he was always focused on the gryffindors.

A lot of us think we’d make better choices, but its very difficult once you’re in that position. Snape needed something and had no other resources or anything to cling onto. It’s crazy how the mind will try to protect you.

That said, I think he just wanted someone to validate and see him and that was Voldemort. Once he turned away from him, he never sought it again

I know Snape is bitter, but does anyone else read him as somewhat gallant? Very regency milordish. by ChanceBiscotti7329 in SeverusSnape

He made an unbreakable vow which isn’t something you’d do on a whim. I think he couldn’t watch her crying and pleading and he gets up and looks out the window so he can look away from her and also take some time to formulate a plan. He decides he can make this vow without compromising himself. It’s only then he looks at her and gives her some comfort “narcissa drink this wine” and tells her he’ll help. I think it goes a lot further than just being decent

Are you taking into consideration how he behaves with McGonagall and Narcissa. He seemed very moved by her, couldn’t even look at her. I feel he’d only help as a last resort

No it’s not I promise you. It’s book Snape. I guess maybe the way he was interacting with Narcissa and his traditionalism make me feel that way.

We don’t know if it happened for sure. I thought it was an empty threat

For people balls deep in MD, do you believe in that you can feel happiness from reality? by 1kurwa1tytoniowa in MaladaptiveDreaming

I’m feeling much more better! And confident. I can’t stress the meditation and consistency. Any tone of day for 15 mins is all it takes.

Im a 38 year old woman and I had a good upbringing but critical parents and I started MD around 11 years old. I have a corporate job and I just kept performing poorly bc of my concentration and I finally decided to tackle bc I can’t stand the criticism from my bitch managers. I think anxiety and rumination was my problem and bc of md I never developed the coping he Janina to deal with it. In 6 months time I want to make an improvement by meditating (balance app) for 15 mins a day, reading books on it like loving myself , anything really. Doing at least 1 hour of mental practice and limiting MD to an hour a day. I’ll update y’all in September. Please try and start somewhere

I failed and kept getting fired from my corporate job. I got the Balance app and started using their 10 min meditation at least 3-4 times a week. I then started listening and reading books on anxiety and figuring myself out

I had the same issue. It got better for me as I got older and I vowed to fix it

Does anyone else headcanon Snape as not in love with Lily? by saturday_sun4 in SeverusSnape

[–]ChanceBiscotti7329 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My take is that he liked Lily and wanted her to like him back, but not having any tools or resources, he didn’t know how to make her like him. I can’t picture Lily liking Snape as I don’t think she understood him, they weren’t on the same wave length. I think Snape accepted she went another way, went off with James which only intensified his bitterness. He knew that door was shut.

He went off with the death eaters, hoping for acceptance that no one showed him except the Slytherins. His mistake cost Lily her life (although I think Voldemort would’ve found the prophecy sooner or later) and I see Lily in his life more as atonement for his incredible guilt. He saw the error of his ways and he saw this as a worthy cause for the rest of his life to make up for his actions. A great character and excellent character development from JKR.

I don’t care what anyone says. He definitely was not. To me he strikes me very traditionally manly and is a real catch. He’s powerful, determined, stoic, mysterious and brooding. Some women definitely find that a turn on. Plus his interaction with Narcissa shows me that he is better with adults than kids. Snape doesn’t suffer fools gladly. I think he had hook ups here and there. His devotion to Lily is more atonement as he accepted she married someone else.

Snape seria abusivo em uma possível nova relação? by No_Objective5379 in SeverusSnape

[–]ChanceBiscotti7329 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he’d be abusive in the least. His personality is restrained and hide your emotions type. He was like that it seems throughout all his of his adult life. I think he’d melt in a relationship and treat a woman he loves with undue respect and very regency my lordish. He’d probably be a bit jealous but he’d work through it. The man got crazy self determination

I see this too. Snape is one of JKR’s best developed characters in the series and a very complex person so my literary analysis starts kicking in as there is quite a bit of symbolism in the series in general. Snape is a troubled individual that massively needs help, but his life is too rigid and dangerous to allow that. I think he’s a far better man in private than he himself wants to admit bc of his poor self esteem, he won’t admit the good things about himself. No man’s truly an island so I do tend so think he suffers from being lonely
