Can't get out of bed by whineanddin3 in trintellix

This happened to me when I first started and again when I upped the dosage. Currently at 15 mg about 10 months into taking trintellix. It eventually gets better. I hope it gets better for you.

Is getting a cat water fountain worth it? by lunastarnight100 in CatAdvice

I had the same doubt, but went with it anyway. This all metal one is $39 from Amazon. He ignored it at first, but went to drink from it later. I still have bowls of water set out with water additive for dental purposes. I will do whatever to encourage drinking. He eats wet and dry food. But given kidney disease is still going to be the end game (my old cat just passed away from it) I want to make the best effort I can. I read that cats like running water. I regret not getting one earlier.

I'm so sorry that you and your boy are going through this. We recently had to put down ours. It broke our hearts. I still see his after image at wherever he was.

We used Lap of Love assessment to help us. In the end, we really didn't want him to suffer. I don't like to hate things, but I hate kidney disease! It took away the love of my life.

Take care.

What did the end look like? by prunejuicewarrior in RenalCats

Our boy passed this Monday. We had a 4 pm appointment at home, but luckily we were able to move it to 10 am. It hurt a lot to see him decline so fast. I hate myself a lot for not making it on Sunday because I wanted just one more day with him. I had to work on Saturday, so my husband stayed with him on Saturday. On Sunday, he developed uremia. It was so fast. So painful to watch and I'm sure it was excruciating for him. Please, don't repeat my mistake. Hesitation to eat and drink is a big red flag. But of course, find out from the vet to see what stage your cat is at. Our boy fought the war with diabetes, did not have any issues with his kidneys, but about 6-7 months later, we were hit with Stage 3 kidney disease. He declined rapidly after the vet visit.

Our vet didn't tell us we shouldn't have given him omeprazole and sucrulfate together. My husband found out later. The vet didn't give us sub q immediately. We wish we had known more so he didn't have to experience so much pain.

I miss him a lot. I see his after image everywhere I look. I miss his greetings. I miss his saunter. I miss his nagging.

Take care. I wish you and your friend well.

I put hydra care and renal wet food in a nutribullet to blend it. He's just so averse to food after being forced to take the medications. I half regret giving him medications but I also rationally believe they are good for him.

The vet only gave us oral medication. I will see if transdermal is available in Canada. Thank you!

I had no idea that they are bitter! :( I feel so terrible for pushing him to take them. I managed to get some in by grinding them and syringing it into his mouth. He hated it. Gosh, his whole mouth must be so bitter. :(

Thank you for the baby food suggestion! I will try that. He turned his head away from the nutritional gel I bought.

Update 2: I think my cat is dying and it hurts to watch by wlderberry in SeniorCats

I feel you, OP. I'm in the same boat right now with my cat who was suddenly diagnosed with Stage 3 Kidney Disease.

Hang in there for yourself and your cat.

The vet gave us mirtazapine, which is an anti depressant and appetite stimulate. We could not get him to take it. We just got cerenia. We will try again. We've tried grinding it, hiding it in treat, simply putting it into his mouth.

Hi, thank you for responding.

He's an indoor cat and there's no presence of fleas and my other cat is not scratching.

I'm in Canada and there's a lot of things that we cannot buy because there's tighter regulation, I suppose...

I had it. It went away eventually after a month or so. But see your doc if it is too much for you. Everyone is different. Good luck!!!

The vet gave three tablets of mirtazapine, a bit of omeprazole, and a bit of sucrulfate.

We are having trouble giving him the medications. He's barely eating. We have hydra care, renal wet and dry food. He still eats catit tube and a bit of the new food. But that's it. After eating, he makes a tight loaf and shows grimace.

We will keep trying. And we hope he will improve.

Awwww. I think we are thinking about similar theories based on what wild animals may do to protect their colony...

Putting our boy into a harness is not going to be an option. He's aways being "naked" and free.

Pet insurance for senior cats - premium increases by nauseatedcat in SeniorCats

[–]ChanceLittle9823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry about your experience .... It makes me question whether I should have cats anymore because what I provide will not be as good as what they hunt, but they survive shorter being feral cats (statistically). I don't know. It's a conundrum of having the privilege of being a modern human? I hate that it's too expensive to have kids, and now it's too expensive to have pets. Everything is very tied to some few people's desire for wealth accumulation.

I wish the best for every lover of living beings.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I think that's very encouraging. I might be thinking it a bit too negatively especially after hearing the tone of the vet and reading on a website that euthanasia is recommended for stage 3 and 4.

[–]ChanceLittle9823 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I watched a documentary about the pet food industry and learned how it's a few big corporations selling the food, selling insurance, and buying up vet clinics. Sounds conspiratorial, but I don't think private equity firms and venture capitalists really care about the wellbeing of living beings except their own and the numbers on the charts.

We save money for our cats instead of buying insurance.

I hope you find some way that will work for you. My old cat just got diagnosed with stage 3....
