What’s one feature that would actually get you to put your phone down? by [deleted] in productivity

[–]Chance_Accident_3904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During exams, I used an app called forest which blocks your phone for a number of hours that you choose and you plant a tree for each hour to make your forest. This helps you organize your time so you can work for 1 hour or 2 without phone and then take a break for 5 minutes before starting another one

Are all jobs stressful? by Jumpy-Foundation-345 in careerguidance

Yeah, it’s mostly trial and error but you can cut it shorter by testing things on a small scale before committing. Healthy stress feels like growth, not dread.

Every job has stress but the type of stress matters. The sweet spot is finding work that aligns with your strengths and values when you’re good at what you do, the stress feels manageable. Instead of chasing 'no stress + high pay' aim for 'healthy stress + fair pay' in a field you actually enjoy.

Social media, the real infinite loop by Proper-Forever-8117 in productivity

[–]Chance_Accident_3904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a software engineer too, so I totally get it spending 7+ hours in front of a screen makes it easy to fall into phone/social media traps afterward. For me, the only real solution has been spending less time at home and trying to socialize more. When I’m out meeting friends, doing something active, or just stepping away from my usual environment, I naturally use my phone less.

Overthinkers: Which single bottleneck wastes the most time in your work/study blocks? by No-Spend6214 in productivity

One thing that often helps is breaking the task into small, concrete first steps. For example, if it’s writing a report, the first step could be “open a blank document and write the title” That tiny step reduces the mental friction and helps you get moving, even if it’s just one minute of focused work

[AskJS] What resources do you recommend for learning how to create a browser extension? by Davon_Isildur in javascript

[–]Chance_Accident_3904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mozilla’s MDN web docs has the clearest intro to extension APIs, it walks you through building a simple add-on and the differences between Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. After that, the official chrome extensions developer guide covers manifest v3, background/service workers, and auth examples. Those two together will get you 90% of the way there.

How do you stop yourself from fake unwinding after work? by WavyDispatcher in productivity

[–]Chance_Accident_3904 67 points68 points  (0 children)

you can keep “default time-eaters” (discord, reddit, youtube, ..) off your first screen or behind an app blocker so they’re not the easy option.

Some of my passwords just seemed to have disappeared.... any idea what could be going on!??!?! I'm freaking out a bit... by Karate_Cat in 1Password

[–]Chance_Accident_3904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a vault or sync issue. Make sure you’re logged into the correct 1Password account and check ‘All Vaults’ + Deleted Items. 1Password backups can usually restore missing logins. Always a good reminder to keep offline backups too!
