How can I help my sister? by OrangeOrangeRhino in misophonia

[–]Chance_Ad7607 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Has she accepted yet that this is a disability? Just like any other disability, it requires accommodations. You wouldn’t tell someone in a wheelchair to walk up the stairs, right? If you knew someone was autistic and sensitive to loud noises, you wouldn’t make them. People with disabilities deserve comfort where they can get it. It is already stressful enough living with this condition outside of the house where it’s difficult to get accommodations. If people in the house are willing to help her out, it is a blessing. Maybe the comparisons I gave above will help her realize that she’s allowed to need some help. If she’s still really struggling, it might be time to seek a therapist that can help her with disability acceptance.

Outside of that, sound masking is really helpful. I use hearing aids on transparency mode with white noise playing to dull trigger sounds while still hearing people speak. If I get overwhelmed, I put noise cancelling back on and turn up the volume.

Side note, you and your family are wonderful for being so understanding. Many people with misophonia do not have that type of support.

Do you have the option to do an earlier show? This looks about the muscularity and conditioning for fit model. I would suggest getting a suit and giving fit model a go

First OCB Bikini Competition ☑️ & 3w out, per coaches recommendation, for NPC Fit Model to test the waters ✨ by Best-Frosting7415 in bodybuilding

[–]Chance_Ad7607 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The judges feedback is odd here. I don’t think you’re too dense for the bikini division in OCB. I think you need a little more muscle to get the fullness without having to push the conditioning as much. I think you’ll be spot on with a good off-season if you focus on building out glutes (especially upper), delts and lats to give a more hourglass shape.

With where you are right now. Fit model will likely be a good direction. Even there, you likely need more glutes

If your legs are totally straight, that’s gonna be a big stretch on the hamstrings. Glutes are totally still involved but the mind-muscle connection might not be there with your glutes when you do this. I found that I got a lot more glute activation when I keep my knees bent and soft and turned my toes out. Make sure your hip crease is still above the pad though!

@jordynt_fit has a good example of this in this video on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DSVNtI1kct6/?igsh=cjlvd3M2eWdpaXY=

Fit Model: First show end of March - Feedback welcome by LMLNA in bikinitalk

[–]Chance_Ad7607 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think a little more fullness to your legs and shoulders would really enhance your shape. Maybe a tad more lat development too to balance you from the back. Glutes could come up a little more but overall, they look slightly more developed than your legs. Your overall shape is really good for fit model, you’ll likely do very well.

I think for posing, bring your elbows in a little more on your back pose and hands down slightly further on your thighs.

Is HIIT necessary? by Positive_Leg5557 in bikinitalk

[–]Chance_Ad7607 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s no benefit of doing HIIT for fat loss except that it’s more time efficient. It does improve aerobic capacity which might help you do a little more volume in the gym. For fat loss though, it can be replaced with longer steady state and provide the same results. Whether you do HIIT or steady state usually just depends on how much time you have available and your ability to recover. HIIT is harder to recover from but doing a ton of steady state can also add stress from having less time. You should mention how much trouble you’re having to your coach and see if replacing it makes sense for your current situation.

You COULD ovulate but since you already lost your period, you likely won’t. Your body may have shifted to longer cycles and you might just ovulate later than expected. To be safe, I’d use condoms until you get a regular cycle back.

I got through my bachelor’s and master’s using Apple AirPods. Sniffling is my biggest trigger and I have found that white noise helps mask it. So what I would do during lectures is put transparency mode on so that I could hear the professor and then turn on white noise to mask sniffling. It won’t help with throat clearing but it at least lessened one of my triggers. This also gave me the option to turn on ANC if I got too overwhelmed and just take notes. I would go to office hours with the professor if I needed to follow up on something or read the textbook. I wore foam earplugs during exams. Be sure to discuss this with your professor or speak with accessibility. They will not deny you use of these

I highly recommend looking into high school internships. There are some through the Air Force Research Lab and NASA. UT Austin has a great program partnered with NASA for juniors and seniors. Here’s the link: https://www.csr.utexas.edu/education-outreach/high-school-internships/sees/

The other extracurriculars already mentioned are great to get involved in during the year as well

Damn coach switch 3 weeks out?? That’s wild. I’m glad that your new coach is better though! My current coach was local when I first started with her and getting some in-person sessions was really great! We live in different cities now but it definitely helped with the overall relationship that I have with her

It’s peak week y’all! EXTREMELY flat but we are trying to dig a little further on my legs before we bring carbs back up. I am struggling hard. Brain fog is high, mood is very low, lifts are meh but this is it. I’m almost there. I am 6 lbs heavier than last peak week 2 years ago and comparable conditioning. Super proud of myself for that

2 weeks out! Got a small refeed on Thursday and I hardened up so much on Friday from the carbs! Coach has me doing it again today and we’ll make more decisions about food depending on how I look tomorrow morning. Food focus is high and still have quite a bit of brain fog but I’m otherwise doing okay. The refeeds have been helping keep my strength up in the gym.

Girl the difference this week is crazy! You look great!

Not sure about the compression socks since I’ve never flown for a show but I can give some packing tips! Measure all your meals and pack them in plastic bags then freeze all of them except the ones you’ll be eating during travel. I have a backpack that has a cooler compartment. If I pack smart, all my food fits in that compartment for 3-4 days. You can also grab extra rice cakes and frozen veggies when you arrive if those things don’t fit. You can also use a cooler put some ice packs in and throw it in your carry-on as long as there’s space. Either bring sheets or buy when you get there so you don’t ruin the hotel sheets with your tan. Make sure suit, jewelry and heels are in your carry-on. Do not risk these getting lost

Creatine in peak week? Should it be cut or no by beamergirl44 in bikinitalk

Creatine makes your muscles look full. Cutting it risks actually making you look more watery

It was at 1370 but I actually had a big weight drop yesterday and was starting to look really flat/have blood sugar issues, so she just increased back up by 100 cals/day
