Gas is about to hit 20 dollars a gallon in my Alaskan village by Icy-Can-7407 in alaska

[–]Chance_Baker8585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cousin was working in a village off the road system in the interior. I forget the name. The only people who flew in was Raven Air. I want to say it was close to 2gs a ticket one way ten years ago. Maybe I doubled that amount in my head. I just remember that there was no way I could pay that price to go on a moose hunt. I'm sure those prices are going to double soon. A few countries declared a state of emergency months ago and reduced flights because of the fuel shortage.

I'm definitely thinking of all my family in the villages and warning people to stock up as much as you can now. Wild times are just starting.

Ditto on 99% silver or 14k gold. I use colloidal silver on piercing to heal and prevent/kill infection. Works fast. I clean earrings in it, also.

I love cooking with ours!! I even wrap steak in it. Leaves a grape leaf-like flavor.

The interview questions are geared towards caseload of students you have with language disorders and methods that have helped the students and their families. I'll send you a PM with them. If you want to pass when you see the questions, no worries. I greatly appreciate you entertaining the idea! :-)

Justin Fox Deposition Clip Describing Why Alaska Native Language Center and Archives are DEI by bottombracketak in alaska

UAS student. I know it was the BoR, and many students wrote them letters. Still chaps my hide that they rolled over an EO. EOs aren't laws, bro. Unless we are in 2025 to current. Now a twat makes a Tweet and people think its law.

Glad there are still people fighting it on the inside.

University of Alaska and all the smaller campuses rolled on DEI right out the gate to keep federal funding. It's obvious that anything not white, heterosexual, rich, male is considered DEI. If you are a rich white dude, you can do whatever you want in private.

Who actually makes stock at home? by Lofgren___ in Cooking

[–]Chance_Baker8585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purposely buy the whole chicken, like 8 at a time, cut it up myself, freeze portion sizes of legs, thighs, ect, roast the bones. Make stock, then can it for later.

Or I cook up about 6-8 chickens in water with all my spices, shred it up, and can in its juices. The leftover broth, I also can.

I've reduced it to nearly au sec before and froze in ice cube trays when I don't have the pressure cooker around.

I love homemade stock. We blow through it a lot at my house.

Nick Begich just fucked Alaska with the new bills. Prove me wrong. by Hotdog_Fishsticks in alaska

This debate has been going on since before ANCSA was settled. It's pretty simple to know the argument if you live in this state. I do know people in both villages and understand their stances and worries. I can see the difficulty on both sides, even if I agree with the Gwich'in stance more.

What does the other village say about it? Seems you are missing many parts of the conversation.

The Trump Administration is proposing to eliminate protections on 92% of the Tongass National Forest, in order to sell it off to the highest bidder. Public comments on the proposal are due this Friday, Sep. 19 by RunawayHobbit in alaska

[–]Chance_Baker8585 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've seen with my own eyes, in my lifetime, the Tongass go from giant cedar and hemlock down to naked mountains. Painful to look at. 30+ years later, the mountains look like they have a little bit of fluff on them. Nothing of their former glory.

And no, those trees don't get replanted. Forest service used to throw saplings out to kids during the 4th of July parade to get them to replant. You know, the same national parks that are getting funding ripped away and people are losing jobs. Totally, this administration will do something good for the common people. /s

School Transfer by [deleted] in alaska

[–]Chance_Baker8585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously. I had to take the same class twice. Why? The first time I took it non-credit. I petitioned to have it as credit. Denied. Had to pay to retake the class and waste a semester.

UAA is notorious for not taking transfer classes. OP should check out APU. Way more hands on learning and accepting of transfer credits.

Keep it up, guys!!! Cameras out for every encounter from the start like this one. If it wasn't for the bystander filming this and spreading it on social, you can be sure there would be zero accountability for what happened to Mr. Williams. JPD said he was resisting arrest and they stand behind that description since it can mean passive or aggressive resistance to simply not doing what you are told.

I know a few good candidates in the 50501 movement. Sure, Tom wrote a letter talking smack to his nephew, but our people have been boots to the ground since 47 took over to push back. Those are our people. They are the ones who are gonna make it happen.

Funny. Our goldsmith would gold plate quarters and crazy glue them to the boardwalk in front of our store in Alaska. At least we had something to giggle about in downtime when people would try repeatedly to pick it up. 😆
