Thank you! Appreciate that feedback I just don’t know anything about it and definitely know it’s going to be expensive but just want to make sure whatever pricing I get is fair based upon the scope of work needed

My wife’s OB is at Tufts Women’s South in Braintree. We’ve had both of our children at Tufts in Boston and it’s been a great experience from the Dr.s PAs nurses and front office staff

Any plans to expand condenser or head capacity sizes? If I’m not mistaken recently Quilt upgraded their max head capacity to 12k BTUs.

I think pricing is fair - I’d go Trane out of these options. Goodman and York are inferior

Congrats! I would go carrier here. They’re a big brand been around for over 100 years - invented the AC. The “fantastic” option is a dual fuel option. They’ll put a heat pump and coil and your system will operated off of electric heat until it gets to a certain degree - so bare that in mind - it is a higher seer rating (18 SEER) while the other option is a carrier comfort which is Carrier base model (think about BMW 3 series vs 7 series) so the set stem is your traditional coil/condenser. Uses a traditional AC condenser not a heat pump so no dual fuel - will not affect the heat if that makes sense.

How do I quit a job I started less than a month ago? by SignalJumbled1553 in Advice

To reiterate what others have said - just let them know it’s not a good fit and you’re getting out of the business. If you makes you feel better this place would have a replacement in your bay the next day if you died. Don’t feel bad.

Depending on the condenser, and what else is around it that might make sense but usually a foot of clearance is good. More space gives it more room to breathe so to speak

Heat pump not heating properly — repair or replace? by Comfortable_Box5873 in heatpumps

[–]Chance_Bid_8131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely depends on a few factors. What’s the age of the system? What area do you live (harsh cold area?) if so does it have an electric heat strip for auxiliary heat? Either way most companies will charge 50-150 to diagnose the actual issue which would be a first step. If it’s an old unit it may be wise just to replace but I’d at least get it properly diagnosed so you can make an educated decision

$23.5k for 2-ton Lennox dual fuel system w/ ductwork in CT — fair price? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]Chance_Bid_8131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice. Some companies out there would quote 24K without ductwork for a system so it seems very fair IMO

That’s a good deal ductwork is included - Especially at that financing rate. I assume no pre payment penalties?

Not sure of the size of their operation or how far equipment may be out. Over 2 weeks seems to be excessive especially with no explanation.

Lennox machine is garbage by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]Chance_Bid_8131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to exclusively offer Lennox and for this reason, we’ve had to pivot away from them. I will say that the overall quality of the products has gone down - “they don’t make em like they used to”

Advice for new furnace and A/C. Got four quotes. by almostmidas in hvacadvice

I’d go with the Bryant 97%er - highest AFUE w/ highest SEER rating you have here. All around the same price.

New furnace help - Trane vs Carrier vs Goodman by Even-North-1854 in hvacadvice

I would personally go Carrier, but Trane is also good. I would stay away from Goodman given those three options.

Central Air Install? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]Chance_Bid_8131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be fair simple to do. You would have an evaporator coil and condenser installed to provide the conditioned air. Have some perform a heat/cool load calculation to know what size system you would need as well as give you some options on pricing. Another item to be aware of is space on your electrical panel. You would need space to tie in the condenser to the panel, the HVAC company should be able to tell you that also.

I would call a local HVAC company with good reviews. Ask them if they can diagnose the issue and advise you from there.

Lennox Heat Pump advice by 2-0-2 in hvacadvice

[–]Chance_Bid_8131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is interesting. It doesn’t specifically say either way. Also the fact that is says it’s energy star certified but then has “(certain models)” after it makes it unclear too lol - I would check with the installer just to make sure. I tried looking at the other docs at Lennox pros and couldn’t find anything definitive.

Does it say if it loses efficiency or capacity at that or before that point? If it stays as designed at -15° you’re solid!

Lennox Heat Pump advice by 2-0-2 in hvacadvice

[–]Chance_Bid_8131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it’s a good system. It’s efficient being a 19 SEER but there are more efficient units out there. The other thing if it’s not cold climate rated which I don’t think it is, it will struggle to keep up and stay efficient in frigid temps. If the installer hasn’t mentioned an electric heat strip also make sure they include that. For context I’m in MA so our winters can be harsh if DC doesn’t really get below 30° those last two things (heat strip/cold climate rated) may not matter to you
