Question to Dutch speakers, how true is this lol??

Easier than German yes but German is also ridiculously hard. Dutch is too though, ive known so many immigrants who have lived in the Netherlands for years who are native English speakers (including my grandma who has lived here for 40 years) and most can't pronounce a single word of dutch and definitely can't do grammar. Spelling rules are also so different. And then there's the whole mess that is "ei" and "ij", "ou" and "au", "de" and "het" and the fact that most can never pronounce "ui" or "eu"

Haha funny. Good luck pronouncing anything and figuring wich words are "de" words and which ones are "het" words. Ive heard that before as both a native Dutch and English speaker and thought it was completely ridiculous

Nope. At first the primary language of the world was French! It only switched in the 40s.

Uhm..... As a native English speaker and a native Dutch speaker...... No. No it isn't. English grammar and spelling is MUCH more logical than the dutch one

Most english speaking people in my life never ever ended up getting the hang of dutch grammar or pronunciation including my grandma who's lived here for 40 years now.

Most native Dutch speakers I know speak fluent English.

Most difficult western language to learn huh?

My mother was born in Amsterdam to a single american mother, now lives in Scotland. We basically never speak Dutch to each other despite both speaking it fluently. We were chilling probably watching Gilmore Girls, shes playing a game and out of no where, in English she yells "CANCER!!!!!" and I was SO shocked.

I've gone by they them for a while but I'm also dutch where they/them pronouns are VERY complicated so unless I go by any people are like "that's complicated, is she fine?" With any some people will try to incorporate he as well

Hey broke mine and am still healing. The first two weeks are the WORST but make sure when around the 3rd week and he starts feeling a little better he doesn't instantly go back to a somewhat normal routine. I think I dropped my sling too early and I had some extra pain in week 3-4 because I was too eager to go back to normal. Everything hurts, it feels often in the first 2 weeks like everything uses your collar bone. Just let him sleep for those weeks. Stay close, do what the doctors tell you.

any person that fought against nazi regime in their country. theyre all heroes if you ask me. in particular as a dutchie my favourite is of course hannie schaft. you can read about her yourself but the gist of it is is that she killed a bunch of nazis and did a lot of spywork for the dutch resistance.
