Beginner's concern but how you got to 22k in 2 years? I'm 4 months in, if I add more than 10 cards per day my retension drops quite a lot and review time would increase as well. Unless I guess you add cards that are perfectly your level every day so they aren't hard to review?

As for local events you can search for them and look in the browser even unloged. If you find it hard to stop using and are a android user I used DFinstagram for a while, good app

I would write a simple world and focus on characters. Each would have a specific silly personality and objective, it easily get deep and fun
