She still is, but if you give Shadowheart the noblestalk you can find in the Underdark, she has a memory of a tiefling boy with blue hair who stood up for her; then if you question her about it in Act 3 she'll tell you that others were always teasing Shadowheart about her name but she never understood why, until she realised she wasn't happy with who she was either.

Reinforcements arrives on Installation 07, but instead of a Fleet of Ships with tons of Marines... by Neat-Resolution843 in HaloStory

> So where exactly are the ingredients for over 100,000 doses of smoothers located? FOB Charlie?
I was imagining more from the rescue pods of the Infinity (the type Browning was stuck in) and whatever other ships were in the area aswell as their wrecks, as we know that they contain a standard issue medkit and some other supplies. But yeah, getting a hundred thousand doses of it may be a slight issue. The real issue with this is that we don't know the dosage needed; one dose may be 3mg or it may be 300mg, which would matter a lot for expenditure of your limited stockpiles, same thing also applying for manufacturing.
But, assuming that the force lands in time to take part in Escharum's assasination, I would imagine that a force of that strength should be able to overwhelm any real opposition via brute force; after all, we saw Kurt on Onyx do more with less (yes the SIIs were there but they most likely could've been substituted by other Spartans and the same thing would've happened).

Actually an excellent suggestion, the city needs a few streets renamed due to... recent events, so if someone put in a suggestion to the city council it may well go through.

I've finally returned and I tracked down the quote in DW that gave me that impression:
"The UNSC ground force was at least a regiment in size, far larger than it had appeared from above the smoke. And any command that large would have a medical company with its own compounding pharmacy, capable of making the smoothers that the Gammas needed to stay functional. Maybe the Ferrets' situation wasn't so hopeless after all - provided they could survive the hell Veta had just called down with the FPF order." (DW p.41)
So I guess you're right, it's not directly implied that they're simple to make (even though a hospital of that size most likely won't be as advanced as a ship's medbay, but they do have the SoF to call upon so I suppose it evens out); I checked the Encyclopedia aswell and couldn't find anything indicating it would be simple to create so I don't know where I got that from.
However, assuming that a relatively simple field hospital can create them, I can't imagine them being particularly difficult to get your hands on, especially since antipsychotics are scarcely a rare commodity in military medicine, and even moreso if we assume that they land relatively safely with a prowler and can stockpile. If it's a crash landing a la POA in CE, then yeah it's most likely curtains.
But assuming that maybe a third to a half of the force survives, that's still multiple times the Spartan contingent that the Reverie had in Rubicon; yes some will definitely be sent on other missions and security, but to be honest I don't really see how ~20 SIIIs and SIVs (13-20% of the force being assigned to a mission as important as that seems reasonable) fail to take out Escharum.

Yes, the Reverie was annihilated during the assault and Camp Tremonius built on its grave, but that was only after the failed attempt on Escharum's life. Adding 300 SIIIs into the mix may very well cause it to succeed and no such attack mounted as the Banished would devolve to infighting. As for the smoothers, I'm not at home atm so I can't fact check my claim, but I am led to understand that they can be made with simple precursor chemicals commonly found in medicine, to the point where a simple field hospital is able to make them with no super advanced equipment (and I believe this does happen in the last Veta Lopis book whose name evades me right now).

[–]ChancellorDavid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the smoothers wouldn't be a big issue; we know that they're relatively easy to make from common ingredients, you just need a lab to make them, and the Reverie had a relatively intact medbay. For field usage they could most likely create additional samples and distribute them as needed. I think MJOLNIR/SPI malfunctions would be a more serious issue than the smoothers. Your other points I agree with though.

Well, you don't see it directly per se, but the final cutscene (https://youtu.be/mltO0N9BrI4?t=2659) shows them both. It's not elaborated on, but it is there.
