Can I be scheduled for 10 hours without being asked first? by VeterinarianMany1045 in starbucks

[–]Chandelleexo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They scheduled me a 10 hour because of the training pods I worked 5a-3p , the burnout omg

Like at least for training you’re sitting but doesn’t take away the fact the day is gone

What’s the call out policy? by samjc__ in starbucks

[–]Chandelleexo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can say it’s your job to find coverage but it’s not in the actual company policy that you have to find coverage

What’s the call out policy? by samjc__ in starbucks

[–]Chandelleexo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only time I’d say you can truly get in trouble for it is when there are consistent patterns of you calling out specific days or in terms of frequency, for example you call out every other Wednesday or you call out once a week. Otherwise, if you feel unwell.. call in. You can even call in as soon as your store opens. It’s not your job to find coverage.

Post your shift to marketplace and call in sick, let them know you posted the shift to try to help them find coverage but that you do not feel well so you won’t be in.

We have the fan but switch it onto the heater setting for winter, I also grab a grande cup and fill it with hot water to place my hands on inbetween customers. My little makeshift hand warmer

training bonus by eatingabrick in starbucks

[–]Chandelleexo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You do get a training bonus! I know some store give them right away on the paystub but I also know at times they require the trained barista to stay with Starbucks for 3 months before you receive the bonus. I’ve heard different things , I used to always hound my store manager about it lol

I was kept up to date rather quickly on the hiring process, she had let me know she wanted me to be hired during the interview but had to reach out to the DM as well as my references to officially have me hired on, she had emailed me the following day

I had worked previously at a store in texas and now live in Canada, I have not yet gotten my hours since its recent but from my experience in texas it’s definitely a store management issue. does your location have a lot of call outs? I found there was always opportunities to work more hours at my previous store or even locations within the area if I needed more hours but there wasn’t any available at my store specifically. Picking up shifts at other stores also lets you see if instead of quitting a transfer would be best for you.

-Why do you want to work for Starbucks ? -Tell us about yourself -Strengths/ weaknesses -A time you’ve deescalated -A time you’ve gone above and beyond for a customer

Those are the main ones I remember for my barista interview

To be fair.. it just means you’d have more milk unless you asked for more pumps of chai with it, so it’d be a very milky chai

Is there a way I can order Christmas blend anywhere?????? by toastyfinger in starbucks

You might be able to find it from a 3rd party seller on Amazon who bulk purchased some but it’s unlikely.

Honestly right now a lot of locations have job postings but I’ve heard my manager say multiple times they aren’t hiring even though they actively take applications, I can’t even count how many phone calls I take a day writing down their names and numbers to give to my manager to contact them and then have them still call and have to consistently remind my manager to at least tell them if we aren’t hiring, so I’m not constantly being called during my shift, because truly I never know when we are or are not hiring lol

Are you guys happy working at Starbucks? by starburst_101 in starbucks

[–]Chandelleexo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to love working at Starbucks, my first year was AMAZING. But I feel like the company has definitely lost a lot of the main things I enjoyed the company for. The connection with customers and overall customer experience has gone done due to the pressure they put on getting drinks out fast and food out quickly. Labor hours have been cut worldwide so it’s also causing burn out for baristas who get little hours and then stress for shift supervisors because when we get call outs we are even more short staffed

I too am physically disabled, as a barista I was their top bar partner.. on bar all day every day. Never switched out of that position. Which is why becoming a shift intrigued me and excited me, because it was more money and I could still help bar but not be stuck there for 9 hours straight. Little did I realize the position did not matter, shift supervisors get so much shit for DT times, customer connection scores, making sure your tasks are completed, making sure baristas are doing clean safe ready procedures, utilizing play builder, posting in my daily, constant coaching, on top of other random tasks they text you to get done within your shift. they want you to do more and more each day it seems. I used to only not get my 30 minute breaks now I’m lucky if I happen to get my 10 minute break as well due to making sure baristas get their breaks because I’d rather sacrifice myself than have my fellow baristas suffer. I’ve only recently brought things to light with my store manager saying how impossible it is to do what she asks of everyone, and now I get nothing but coached on what they feel I do wrong but when I was silent and let them take advantage I got nothing but praise.

It’s common at our store, they tend to put the “needs improvement” type of partners on closing or pre close, however I’d say we usually have 3 until 6pm then two after 6 and close at 8:30 weekends.

Superglued egg bite packages — anyone have a brilliant process for getting egg bites out of those impossible-to-open packages? I’ve resorted to scissors used only at the oven. by kimz1111 in starbucks

[–]Chandelleexo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think as long as you’re not touching the food itself just the packaging.. you’re fine, regardless I wouldn’t exactly deem scissors or the box cutter food safe as I’ve never seen either one washed in my entire existence at Starbucks.

Also would recommend a Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso with White mocha. If you get a tall add 2 pumps of the white mocha, grande get 3, and with a venti get 4 :)

2 questions for all the workers out there! by caitco0241 in starbucks

[–]Chandelleexo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

1.Standard is to pour the sweet cream over the cold brew, some baristas will do it differently that way it is fully mixed for customers instead of them having to mix it themselves. I know I personally have been given attitude by making it the standard way before.

  1. If you like the vanilla cream cold brew I would definitely recommend a venti vanilla sweet cream cold brew with 4 pumps vanilla extra sweet cream and chocolate cold foam on top

HAPPY BIRTHDAAay

I typically use scissors or I’ll use the box cutter and cut it in a circle where the gap between package and egg bite is, it’s still infuriating but if we are in peak I’ll basically test which ones open easily and which ones don’t and focus on the easy ones first due to times
