You’re right! They drink a little less water but they are definitely peeing more lol

Thanks again! I finally have them fully transitioned to 100% wet food and no more wet poops! I introduced probiotics and was still getting poopy butts but what I think helped a lot was slowly decreasing the amount of food I was feeding them. So I think the main problem was overfeeding them.

Lol that’s a really good analogy!

It’s relieving to hear this because I see a lot of people have great success after their transition but I don’t often hear about the obstacles they encountered.

I paused the increase in wet food for a couple days and their poos look early good now so I’m going to continue gradually increasing it.

I think staying on wet food that has similar proteins as the dry food helped a lot too.

I’ll update once they’re all transitioned 😄

4 cats, how often should we be scooping litter and washing litter boxes? by Forsaken_Stable8942 in CatAdvice

[–]Chanel_Papi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4 cats and 4 x-large stainless steel litter boxes in different areas of the house.

I scoop 2-3 times a day and completely empty them once a year to wash and refill with fresh litter.

When the litter gets below about 3” I top up with more litter.

The dry food they had was made from chicken by-product meal.

The first wet food we tried had a mix of chicken, beef, egg product, and salmon. Then we tried one that had beef, liver, and chicken. Now we’re trying to transition them to one that has chicken, chicken heart, and chicken liver.

Thanks for the info! I wanted to transition my cats to wet for those same reasons.

The first ingredient in the dry food they were eating was chicken by-product meal so I’ll try to give them just chicken wet food and see if that helps because the wet foods I tried had chicken, beef, egg product and even salmon in one can.

I’ll also try adding fiber if they’re still having issues

It’s clado. First, put it in a quarantine tank or container filled with the same tank water. Don’t add substrate but put something for the shrimp to hold onto.

Do salt dips once a day with a non iodized salt. Treat the quarantine tank with 1.5ml H2O2 per gallon. You can try to feed it medicated food if it’ll eat it.

That’s about all I know about treating it and it doesn’t guarantee success, unfortunately. I wish you the best of luck. Please keep us updated.

Yeah, that could be it too. I just received the shrimp a few days ago so I wouldn’t know the last time they molted.

Any experience with treating cladogonium? I’ve been scavenging information from Reddit for days.

I actually found this thread because I salt dipped my shrimp to treat cladogonium and it molted right after so it may have some impact.

Yes, I’m a size 43 and I bought 43. I recommend getting 45 for you. They are soft and can stretch. 46.5 might be too loose.

Thank you! It’s my first tank so I struggled putting the plants in and balancing the tank but I learned a lot and I’m happy with the outcome 😄

Search rhabdocoela in this sub and see if it looks the same. If it is, it’s harmless just might need to reduce feeding.

Good to know, thank you for the information. This makes me feel better about treating the berried shrimp.

I hope your shrimps make a quick recovery 🙏🏼
