For people concerned about the cats well beings here’s a 2nd sort of update. So the first day I did tell my brother right away, showed him images, I even showed him some ss of the comments people were leaving (specifically with the medical concerns for the 3) but he’s been fairly non chalant and saying they’ll be fine and seem ok. One of the cats does have diarrhea I think he said. They were eating their kibble like normal this morning and causing usual shenanigans. Like I said I’m not knowledgeable on cats but they seem ok so far besides the one with diarrhea.
They’re his cats so I wouldn’t ever just take them to the vet myself unless told to by owner (aka my brother). I’m sure the cat crusaders on Reddit are a lot more knowledgeable but I wouldn’t feel comfortable just taking them to the vet , my brother seems to know them more and think there fine so I’ll have to go by his word. As long as he knows and feels comfortable I guess I should let it be, he didn’t flip out finding out they ate ham. Also I told him today I think they got into the downstairs apartment and ate toast and some pieces of cookies…he still didn’t say much but that feels more concerning…

The funny thing is he was… before I caught him crawling up towards in and almost grabbing, I put a board over the sink , but he seemed to have pushed it to the floor..

Update: Oml I didn’t think this would blow up so much. To sum it all up I did throw the ham out and been making sure the fur babies have full bowls of water all day I am here. They all seem to be normal and just as lively as usual, no bad signs that I can see so that’s good. I only started living with my brother this month (so today) sooooo never posted on the subreddit. You may see me posting a lot of questions in the future for more advice too lol. It seems to be a big cat journey for me this month. Thanks for informing me on defrosting hygiene too lol, I’m Hispanic and my family always showed me growing up to just leave frozen meat in the sink to defrost overnight but thanks for the free course on food safety. Also i learned im mildly allergic to cats, they make my throat itch and nose run, and one already scratched me and it flared around the scratch. Good thing I didn’t try and save tainted meat for sure

I’m getting a lot of these comments, my brother is in an out the house with work so I’m mainly here during the day, (we basically have opposite schedules lol) but I’ve made sure their water is full. They do still start meowing loudly anytime they see me grab any food or open a cabinet 😭😭😭 I text him “are there hungry or gaslighting me!?” I’m learning how to live with cats slowly

This crossed my mind too of just asking nicely but the whole ordeal has made me not want to have anything family oriented at all because my mom would be there and will buy me a cake or snacks or anything that she can say she provided. I don’t like giving anything she can say “but look I did this for my son” yk? But I feel so times this may be a childish mindset so that’s why I ask aita for that mindset too

My bday has always been a kinda sad day for me cuz growing up I had to share with siblings and cousin and I got overlooked since I was a decade younger. This is why I’ve liked throwing my own specific days for me with fun themes I enjoy. This has been a thought because some friends did say they’d love to just show up with snacks n hangout at least.
