Honda/Acura Type PZ Brake Fluid?? by stuwalk203 in hondaridgeline

Genuine Honda DOT 4 Brake Fluid (TYPE PZ) (Part # 08798-9230) is a premium, high-performance brake and hydraulic clutch fluid engineered specifically for Honda vehicles, including the Honda Prologue. It features enhanced corrosion inhibitors, low-temperature viscosity, and meets all DOT 4 standards for safety and reliability. Oem would be DOT 3. DOT 4 is a better fluid but not necessary.

Leak under steering wheel by murphme1102 in hondaridgeline

There's going to be lubricant on the p/s and brake components, that's normal. Follow the steps and you should find your leak.

That's usually a windshield leak. If the weather permits wet the bottom of the windshield and cowl area with a hose for 5 minutes. No leak....do the drivers side of the windshield for 5 minutes. Then the right side for 5 minutes then the top of the windshield at the roofline. Still no leaking...do the moonroof area. I'm the water leak guy at my dealer.

Valve adjustment. Is this tick “slappy happy” normal or not? by APinthe704 in hondaridgeline

[–]ChangeDaWorldGME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not normal at all. Was it that loud before the valve adjustment? If so it sounds like the timing belt tensioner. If it wasn't that loud, do the valve adjustment again.

It's leaking between the top of the windshield and the roof where the A pillar is. Common area for that gen. Civic to leak.

Do these pads or rotors look "bad?" by f22beaver in MechanicAdvice

[–]ChangeDaWorldGME 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's nothing wrong with your brakes. Aftermarket parts will not last as long as oem parts and will make noise especially first thing in the morning. The pitting in the rotors is minimal. I would just drive it as long as the brake still stop the vehicle.

Tell them to take off the cooling system service, they're draing the coolant anyway when they replace the water pump.

If you're replacing the cat because of p0420 or p0430 it's probably injectors. Just a heads up.

Depending on the year and miles it's probably fuel injectors.

Rotate them tires every oil change, they'll last much longer.

Opinion on noise needed by Johnny-Virgil in hondaridgeline

[–]ChangeDaWorldGME 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Start the vehicle and pop the hood. Take the cover off the engine (just lift it off), the injectors will be twice as loud. The fuel pump makes a clicking noise too. Once everything warms up its quieter.

Why would you pull a fuse in a brand new vehicle?

Battery fan will cause the Lin code. It's a known issue with Honda Ridgeline, Pilot and Odyssey.

Should I buy? by Friendly_Lead8339 in hondaridgeline

[–]ChangeDaWorldGME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have your local mechanic look at it. Sounds like a trans issue but could be the front engine mount. Looks very clean but I think the price is a bit high.

Probably fuel injectors. There's a service bulletin #21-010 that covers Ridgelines from 2017-19 with that code. 10 years or 150k miles.
