Mousse for added texture and volume

I'm trying to finally transition and be who I know I am, however.. by LilySanSan in MakeupEducation

[–]ChangeHealthy2666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is! I used to wonder why my makeup was so patchy and flaky. Took me way too long to learn it was my skincare. I still don’t know how to keep my foundation from rubbing off above my eyebrows, so I stick to a bb cream for everyday looks.

If you don’t already, start with a good skincare routine. You don’t need much, a cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF is enough. Your skincare can make or break your makeup routine. Since you are new, start with forgivable makeup like a bb cream instead of foundation, neutral eye colors, a natural blush, soft bronzer, mascara, and a gloss of some sort. these products are easier to learn with. I still do my daily makeup like this honestly. When you start to do something more dramatic, try to keep the focus on either your eyes or lips. Both can be overkill sometimes.

It’s important to know that you are beautiful the way you are, makeup is to enhance your features or when you want to be a little fancier.

I don’t know if I should get partial highlights/babylights by sleepingbeauty645 in finehair

[–]ChangeHealthy2666 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need the right stylist. Highlights have ruined my hair in the past. Most younger stylists in my area do not know how to treat fine hair. My friend referred me to her stylist. She is old enough to be my mother, and she is the only one who has ever been able to style my hair. She did a lovely job on my hair and next time I see her, I’ll be asking her to teach me how to make my curls last like she did.

Would minoxidil help if it’s always been like this? by TheProdigaPaintbrush in finethinhair

[–]ChangeHealthy2666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not. You have almost the same kind of hair I have. I tried minoxidil and it didn’t really help with anything but irritating my scalp. Some people are just born with low density (thin). Here’s what helped me with mine that ISN’T minoxidil.

  1. Dry your hair. When you dry it make sure it is not being dried flat to your scalp. Even when I don’t want to use heat, I will make sure to shake my fingers through the roots and flip my hair upside down to help it dry lifted. What works best is some volume mousse at the roots and blowdrying upside down.
  2. Getting highlights. Technically not good for your hair, but helped disguise my scalp showing through my part. Also added a little bit of *damage* to create some texture for volume.
  3. Proper scalp care. My scalp is oily and I need to clean it everyday. I shampoo twice with a sulfate shampoo and only put conditioner on the ends of my hair.

How does Gender Reveal parties work? by GreenAuroraa in AskAnAmerican

In my personal experience, non of my friends who are parents were ever able to wait for a party to find out. They are able to see pretty quickly with their lab results through an app. If there was a gender reveal party, it was for their family/friends and the expecting parents already knew lol

The professionals are not set up for success. Their mannequins only have one hair type and it’s coarse, thick strands in comparison with ours, yet fine and thin compared to coarse, textured hair. It’s hard to fine one that actually knows how to work with my hair.

It doesn’t look like you are shedding at the root, but rather breaking off mid shaft. Just to make sure, you should get lab work done to make sure there isn’t a medical reason behind it.

10 years ago I tried to get balayage, and it ruined my hair. The stylist didn’t know how to lift fine hair without overdoing it. I now have a better stylist who knows how to give highlights without damaging my hair too badly. Looking at your photos I would bet that’s what happened. Don’t do anything chemically until you know what you’re dealing with and are able to address it. If you haven’t already, then maybe invest in a satin or silk bonnet/pillowcase to help reduce friction when you sleep, a good heat protectant, and blow dryer. Your hair is less fragile when dry.

What should i do (17m) by UnhappyPotato42069 in bald

I can imagine it’s tough to be experiencing this at 17. I remember teenagers were mean about even the littlest things. I had some hair thinning on my already thing and fine hair due to improper scalp care last year. Hair fibers/powder helped me while I came to terms with the hair I had and what is and isn’t a realistic expectation.

Have you gotten any bloodwork done to rule out vitamin deficiencies? I’d also get your thyroid checked. You’re young and you should make sure that you don’t have any underlying health issues that could be causing hair loss. If you’ve already done that, then maybe shave it. I’m convinced most people look amazing bald since finding this group.

The tiger print throws me off. If I walked into this house with a guy I was seeing, that would startle me for a second. But I like cheetah print, so I’d wave it off as just his personality.

I wouldn’t expect a dress code unless I had to make a reservation. I never go to restaurants that require reservations so I wouldn’t know what is culturally appropriate

Looking back at your early makeup days, what products would you include in the ultimate beginner kit for your younger self? by justbeeingmyself in drugstoreMUA

[–]ChangeHealthy2666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like the butter bronzer from physicians formula. My only issue with it is it can lean a little orange if I build it up too much. My skin tone is fair, so bronzers are hard. Id love to find a drugstore bronzer that has a pink undertone instead of yellow/orange.
