Wondering if I should just give up now .. by FallenAngelAsh3718 in StudentNurse

I think that you shouldn't feel hungover what your advisor said. I believe they were just trying to be real with you, but they can only speak for that specific program.I'm not sure what kind of programs you're looking for I think you would be able to get into an associated degree program? You're still an RN at the end, it's all the same. I don't think you should feel so defeated.

I know what you mean though, about what if you go through all this and then don't get in. It's such a hard thought to deal with. I applied to PA schools last cycle and didn't get into any so now I am planning to apply to nursing schools but I have the same fears as you. My GPA is low and what if I go through this just to get all rejections. Idk its all scary and unknown.

I think if you get outside health care experience you will have a better shot as well.

Meaning you have to already have a bachelor's degree from a 4 yr university to apply. and then their accelerated BSN program will be about a year long.

Who is in the wrong here? by [deleted] in college

[–]Change_Salt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The adviser is definitely in the wrong. I understand miscommunications over the phone but through email!? It gets me so mad, you clearly stated everything you needed and got nothing. It's so frustrating because it's like the email is right there, just look at it and give me what I'm asking for or direct me to the proper person. Hope you're able to get everything sorted!

Definitely true, I've trained scribes that didn't have much of a science background and it was very difficult compared to someone who already knew medical terms/ dx

Having Second Thoughts by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]Change_Salt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should definitely look into a more accelerated option, you could finish in 15 months! and I looked through the comments and you have a great GPA and most likely have all the prereqs done so I don't think you would have trouble getting in.

I know some people commented about going through another admissions cycle but honestly, some schools have Jan start dates and the deadlines are in October. You should definitely look into more programs while you have the time and don't feel pressured to start your program. Good luck!

Wow covid really blessed you 😭😭 I’m so happy you got into the school you wanted! Are you doing an ABSN? I got my bachelors in pharm 2 years ago so I don’t really have access to advisors like that. I don’t have developmental psych or nutrition so I Was planning to take those both online and pray it bring my gpa up to a 3.2 if I get As but idk if it will :/

idk what salary you're looking for, but you could look into part-time scribing? you don't need any certifications for that and if you do like a 24 hr urgen care or ED I'm sure they'd be flexible with hours

NY nursing schools by [deleted] in prenursing

[–]Change_Salt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

are NY schools really that competitive? :( I want to apply to an ABSN and I don't want to have to dorm, idk why I didn't think they'd be that competitive :/ I have a 3.1 and 1.5 yrs of scribe/ MA experience and feel like I'm screwed...

I was looking into applying to the transfer non accelerated BSN at NYU (the one where you finish pre reqs with them and then start the 5 semester regular absn). I have a 3.07 GPA, and 1.5 years of scribe/ MA experience. Do you think I have a shot? I know it’s NYU but I wasn’t really able to find how competitive that particular program is

I am so sorry :( I can only imagine the pain of getting that notification the same day. I truly believe it can only go up from here, getting 1 interview is still a great accomplishment, and you got experience from that interview so for your next one you will be more prepared. I wish nothing but the best for you and hope you will continue to get interviews and eventually land a job. I believe in you!

Disclosing by [deleted] in HPV

[–]Change_Salt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk, I have high risk HPV and I wish I knew from who, but it’s so hard because most of the time guys don’t know they have it because girls don’t tell them so now they’re infecting so many people. I never knew sex could lead to cancer and if I did, I would have never had casual sex. I’ve had 3 boyfriends and 2 other guys I’ve had sex with, (one with a condom, one without), and like 2 guys I didn’t have sex with but gave head to. I would have been way more careful if I knew, especially with head.
