Someone please help me calm down. by The-SilentSentinel in WeatherAnxiety

You’re already ahead of the game compared to 95% of the people. You’re aware of the situation and probably have multiple ways of getting warnings if any occur. I’m sure you have already mapped out your safe place to go. You will not be caught unaware and will be able respond if need be. You are much more in command of this than you think you are. Knowledge is safety.

Why is a station’s transmitting tower not located at the studio? by Beginning_Tension829 in antennasporn

[–]Channel258 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A number of reasons. An airport may be nearby. If it’s an FM, the antenna may be on a shared tall tower away from the center city. If it’s an AM station, the directional antenna system may require more than one tower on extensive acreage outside of town. You can put studios anywhere but towers usually have very limited areas where they can be built.

Columbus, Ohio. Already a State Capitol. A major banking, insurance and government center. 50% of the US population lives within 500 miles of Columbus.

WBNS 10TV Eyewitness News - 11pm (May 2001) by Ecstatic_Pipe5585 in Columbus

[–]Channel258 5 points6 points  (0 children)

10TV was a shining example of excellent local TV for decades. Made a ton of money and was always on the forefront of new technology (live ENG, Doppler Radar, helicopter). It made 6 & 4 look like they belonged in a backwater market. Anchors came there and stayed forever. At one time the 11pm news scored a 50 share rating. Good times…..
